Stalingrad DLC doesn't unlock
I have the DLC but ingame it says I don't have it.
I play offline BTW. If the DLC has a sneaky always on DRM please indicate it on the store page so I can refund it.

Hi, make sure not to play in offline mode. To know that you own the DLC the game needs to have you fully logged in your steam account
Then please make it clear on the store page. I refuse to buy game that forces me to be online. Thanks.

You dont need to be online to play it, just once to register you actually own the content so it can unlock. after that you can go back to offline mode.

I mean, the game needs to know that you own the DLC to let you use the content somehow. Of course this is needed just when launching it.

I never had a game doing that unless it uses denuvo. It's fine, I asked for a refund from steam for the dlc.

my friend you just need internet for like 5 seconds to let steam know you own it. It's not sneaky DRM just Steam needing to know

Steam doesn't need to be online to use a DLC. This is a custom online DRM check the devs added. Frankly, it's something not worth doing as it will inconvenience players who are often offline and it's also a dealbreaker to the anti-DRM crowd.

Meanwhile pirates will just circumvent that protection and play anyway... there's really no positive for anyone here.

You are partially right, actually the reason behind this is not really an anti piracy reason and the game doesn't really contact any server to ask the DLC authentication or something, but instead the game check through Steam APIs if the user owns the DLC to show it's content inside the game. (That's the only way to know if a user owns the DLC in this kind of games, other games uses DLC in a different way to expand the game through additional downloads of content, so it's just required to have the content downloaded and installed, but in ER2 case the DLC doesn't make you download extra files). However if Steam haven't been online in a while, he will forget if the user owns the DLC or not and will require a re-login.

Thanks for the explanation but the really burning question would be: Do you have any plans to make it so an online connection is not required to play like most games? If not, I suggest adding an online connection to the system requirements... a little transparency goes a long way with your community.

I thank you for you communicativeness in any case, that's appreciated. :happyotus:

Imagine complaining that the game needs to know that you own the DLC by being connected to steam, the platform you bought it from and downloaded it from.

That's not the issue. I suggest reading again.

Yeah, I love it when I go to the bakery, I buy a loaf of bread, bring it home and then when I want to eat I have to call the bakery to make sure I still have a licence to eat the bread. I love being a slave and owning nothing too.

That is mentioned in system requirements already, however surely after this post I started thinking ways to workaround this. I already thought about a solution, but I still have to test if it will work

Update: I confirm the DLC will always work offline since next update. I found a workaround, it's not the best solution but looks working.
