There are two modes, one following the story of the series and the other being a new story for the game involving your own custom character.
Since the game is made on a budget, I'd imagine the story that follows the series does it loosely for the first season of the anime.
Depending on how much story is actually left in the manga, maybe they'll make another game?
As much as I like these niche kind of games, as mentioned in another thread, this looks like one of those one-off game adaptations for the PS2 back in the day: just for the hardcore fans that can overlook many flaws, never to be heard of or seen again.
I could be entirely wrong, but that's how it looks to me.
Manga Vol 11 isn't out yet, and the currently aired arc won't make sense to be cut in the game.
And about a new game, is kinda more easy to do a DLC, imo.
Some people find it really difficult to watch movies
they can play a video game for 10 hours, and it's effortless as it requires their input so it keeps their attention. but watching 1 hour of movie is near impossible.
what about Xenosaga?
I'm just saying, that it's not so easy as just going and watching it for 4 hours. That doesn't mean it's never gonna happen.
Also, I wasn't really talking about myself, I'm a hardcore mia fan and I've read the manga.
The story begins with Riko and Reg's meeting in the first episode of season one. This marks the start of their great adventure, and together they travel to Seeker Camp in the second layer of the Abyss. Experience the awesome power of the Curse of the Abyss, as well as the astonishing, legendary entities known as primeval creatures. Prepare to glimpse the world of Riko and her friends."
Based on this I'd say it should be safe to play this game without watching the anime.
Not like I have any problems with watching the anime myself, but if the story is the same(?) maybe the game will be more interesting this way.
and the game is not out for over a week, plenty of time to watch and love it and have no spoilers
