You can dig resources without a pickaxe in your inventory. In fact, a pickaxe is also a machete, only slower. It is a weapon, not a tool.

Wait... You can dig without having actual pickaxe... But don't have actual backup weapon to defend yourself? I call this bullcrap and deliberate annoyance. Now arguments about this game being somewhat immersive and realistic can go to hell if you have invisible pickaxe just for digging and no backup defence option!

You can't punch with barehands or kick enemies either

Yeap, that's now sound totally logical out of a sudden! Totally realistic and immersive! /s

You can't actually run out of gold, but you can waste a lot of time. You can just leave Orth, grab the two or three things right at the entrance, then go back to Orth. It'll give you full health and repaired weapons so you can essentially just run a garbage loop the whole time. It's tedious but you can do it and it would resolve gold issues. With how the game works and how the respawn/raiding mechanic works it's kind of hard to run out of materials for weapons and by extension gold.

While I actually wouldn't mind the game leaning more into the survival aspect, especially if it gets a sequel (since the anime focuses far more on that than fighting stuff), this is a pretty silly point.

First of all, even weapon pickaxes don't lose durability from mining. It's not that hard to explain away. Your character has a pickaxe purely for mining. Why doesn't it ever break? Weapon pickaxes don't lose durability from mining. Why is it invisible? Is it invisible? Just because it's not listed in the items section? Your flashlight also isn't listed, and yet it's there.

Also, what do you mean 'no backup option to defend yourself'? Currently a purple whistle, I always have two 'blue whistle level' machetes, plus a relic machete. I have *two* backup weapons. Have you considered bringing more weapons?

This game has issues, but I swear some people are just looking for stuff to complain about.

how am i supposed to carry 5 weapons when 80% of the inventory is taken up by just the clothes you wear on your back i have room for a bit of salt miso sticks monocle and able to bring back 5 or 6 relics before being too heavy to move

Why are you bringing a 500g monocle unless you're specifically trying to categorize monsters? Why are you bringing miso sticks when salt + meat is the emergency food? Why are you lying about how much you can carry because we all know you are except, maybe people who haven't played yet?

I was going to make a second post but I'll do an edit instead.

It's because this person has never played the game and are just here to cause problems. Blocked.

He meant a backup option like Doomguy's fists or chainsaw. Such a weapon should obviously be super ineffective, but when you think about it it's really silly that you can't even smack a buttefly unless you have a full-blown machete or pickaxe.

I do agree that is silly... why can't we just snap a branch of a tree to wack them with?

It's supposed to be hard. You're supposed to learn how to manage resources. Don't attack every enemy you see, you'll never make it that way. In the beginning, if you lose your weapon and don't have the items to craft, you can dig up relics and sell them to buy a weapon. The stones needed to craft them can be found on blue shining nodes, but you will need to kill for bones. Also, weapon durability refreshes when returning to Orth, you can kill things and return before your weapon breaks to get more bones

I'm only on the first layer but it seems that when enemies start to spawn behind you if you are crouching they won't notice you, so you can take a few steps away from then and continue on your way.

Your flashlight can change depending on your helmet. There's at least one that doesn't even have a flashlight at all.

That just proves my point.
Game supposed to be "difficult, teach tou to manage resources", but gives you unbreakable pickaxe but no option to snap a branch to wave monsters away.

Edt: k, that was rude, but I still can't understand blatant defence of this game flaws.
