Goblet of Giants Map Changed!?!? O_o
So I did some random side quests that involved killing an Orb Piercer, and now the Goblet of Giants Map is totally different. Did anybody else notice that, and does it ever switch again? I miss the waterslide XD

Yeah, it seems like it changed once I got the black whistle. I actually tried to die by falling to see if it changed, but instead I got saved by Nanachi and got a shortcut anyways. I wonder if it changes back or it is just some permanent thing from now on.

I WAS JUST ABOUT TO POST THIS EXACT SAME THING.
I just killed the orb piercer, and delivered the relic the old guy had to the guild. Come back and the entire layout changed??
I am so confused

I mean I think it's a lore thing. Like the plants are supposed to fall and the the goblet is supposed to change, it's just really surprising that it's tied to a random side quest. I also like the original version better, so it would be nice if you could switch back somehow.

yeah but that process as RIko says, takes a couple thousand years I think

For new ones to grow yes, but they discuss both in the game and the show that the goblets change over time. Even in the anime this didn't quite make sense as it's like "How can the area change all the time if growing new ones takes thousands of years?"

Think I've seen at least three variations now. Seems to randomly change when you enter the Abyss.

Yeah, after getting the white whistle it seemed to go back to the original variant for the Reg side-quest, and now it randomly changes between at least three variants. The 2 ice pillar zones in layer 5 also seem to change randomly (more significantly as the possible exits can change).

well at least one variation of this map can spawn an orb piercer right below a rope landing point and it is stupidly frustrating and the only alternative is to return to Orth and hope for a better map.

or just avoid the orb piercer, or go through nanachi

My point is in that map and in that spawn, the orb piercer cannot be avoided because it aggros you before you finished landing on the ground. I suppose that's not a problem if you are practiced in killing them, but is a huge pain in the ass otherwise.

Try jumping off the rope to save time, wait for orby to step further away, if you are feeling rather daring and with durability to spare, hit them in the face repeatedly until they are defeated, time the hits so each one of them staggers the creature, making them unable to retaliate (that's what I've been told, haven't tried closing in on one ever before xD).
