Modding Potential
I hope this game has decent modding potential, I feel like mods would definitely up the games' value significantly
EDIT: Here's a modding discord that I cooked up really quick, this should help with getting modding up and running! https://discord.gg/mB2JYnfXta

It's UE, so we should be able to do things like disable the spawning.
I'm also confident the original survival sliders are still in the game, just disabled, seeing how it was removed so far in development.

Oh don't give me hope. :')
If I knew anything about what to look for, I'd already be tearing the files apart to kill that spawning timer.

I'm certain the respawning can be easily modded out. Problem is unpacking the pak files, as I have no idea if they're encrypted or not.

I played with the pak file a bit. I was able to open them, I think? But the archive looked like all the files were packed again or some were just without an extention? That's where I pretty much stopped cause I know how to use 7zip and that's about all my modding knowledge until I can change numbers on a notepad. XD

How were you able to open them?

I say open as in view what's in the pak.

I used 7zip and it was open # or open e I think? One of the different opening options. Not at my computer at the moment so I can't double check. But that let me view the archive past that first pak layer.

I managed to open them by figuring out the game's version (4.25.4) and used the appropriate matching unpacker.
I'm seeing lots of files here, will try to hopefully disable the spawning.

Editing to add all the scripts are unprotected, modding is indeed a possibility.

I'm looking forward to possibly gameplay overhauls and the like, I feel like the dev team are probably gonna update this game and get rid of the egregious spawn issues anyways, reimplementing cut content would be nice though. Graphical mods would be pretty nice too, you don't even have to really use modding tools to make those (don't really like reshade though)

"Fixed in Abyss" sounds like a good mod name.

This is Spike, don't expect anything other than bug fixes. They already announced the game will get no further content.
If the game had a DLC blueprint, we'd be able to load extra content into the game. Sadly, it doesn't seem like it does.

I may nominate you for sainthood if you find a fix!
Mind if I private message you when I get back to my computer? I'd love to learn how you did it and poke around in the files myself!

:torielsad: Darn it. Well, maybe the Chime Corporation works different than Spike Chunsoft, Spike are the publishers, but not the devs, so maybe Chime cares enough to actually fix a lot of these issues

The Re:Zero game they made was pretty well received on steam it seems, I don't know if it was because of fans reviewing the game positively because it's Re:Zero or if it's because genuine love and care went into making the game, but I hope it's the latter because that might mean eventual bug fixes for this game.

I'm seeing some scrapped content for the game, including a random entrance to the abyss from 4 different maps to choose from, a weather and time of day system. I guess leftovers from the old survival build.

Seems like the spawning might not be event based like I originally suspected, but scripted into the maps themselves, so modding for it would require you to load them back into UE4, edit map by map to remove the flags and then repack everything. Even more of a reason why they won't be patching it out of the game as it'd be a 20gb update.
