This is crazy. Took me 30 min to defeat it. Am i the only one finding this fight crazy difficult? I'm missing somting or am i simply a bad gamer?

What weapon did you use? Sounds like you need to get a better one, they do make a massive difference. Defeating Ozen for guaranteed str accessory should help as well.

You have to wait a little bit before dodging, its attack animation has a bit of a wind-up to it and doesn't hit as early as basically any other attack in the game.

The problem is not my dodge. The problem is when the orb piercer dodge after the attack. I mess up my opportunity to do damage there. Maybe ranged weapons would have been better.

The weapons i use are pikaxe relic high.
Maybe is pecause i'm playing on PC with a keyboard but dear god what a pain.

I pretty much had to just abuse the hit stun on them. I always just swung once and let the combo reset, as long as you time it right you can keep doing this until you're almost out of stamina, then if it's not dead you'll have to gain some back and dodge another attack from it. Don't bother wasting stamina and durability on combos.

This feels like another thing they need to address in the balance patch, it's kinda dumb youre actively punished for doing combos especially when you have to actually spec points into it to do them,.

Yeah, combos are useless. The only reason to put points over there is for the durability increase. More often than not you're better off just spamming the first hit for the hit stun and guaranteed damage instead of trying to combo and doing 0 every other hit while still losing durability. SOME mobs don't have this weird "mechanic" and you can combo them reliably but it's still not worth it unless you take the time to find out which ones you can do it on.

If you delay the followup swings, you can still use the combo attacks and have them do damage

I've found the timing on that is even tighter than letting the combo reset. If you delay a tiny bit too long, you drop the combo and start over. Which is basically what I've been doing on purpose.

I think this is a bug for the most part. It seems like some animations intentionally block damage, such as the knockdowns. But then about half of the stagger animations also block damage. There are some enemies with multiple slightly different animations when they get hit, and even on the same enemy some block damage and some don't.

heres a really simple easy but cheesy way of defeating it first use a save balloon when you see one (you'll need it ) then keep slowly inching towards it when the music starts playing back up a small bit quickly until it stops again congratulations you just found the edge of its detection radius now pull out a ranged weapon (i prefer the bow) if you have any explosive ammo use it (it makes hitting the crit. area easier) now safely snipe it from a distance and be ready whenever the quick time event comes and congratulations you now have a easy way of killing orb piercers. (btw rip if you don't have enough ammo lol btw the area that provides the highest crit. chance is the face) if your talking the legit way you'll need high crit chance a lot of picks and luck since you probably haven't found nanachi yet aka gotten orb piercer antidote yet so assume that if you get hit and some how survive you have a high chance of now having a poisoned state and no cure so you need to hit stun it with the pick it then you crit it in the face you can interrupt it getting ready to attack now why don't i just recommend you just get good at dodging you may ask because despite having 70+ hours and all the achievements in the game even i haven't got the timing down lel this is information on how can do it now good luck and happy abyss raiding.:MadeInAbyss_hat:

Relic pick axe, only takes one, just whack it, itl stun lock the thing, keep whacking it with a half second delay after swinging once and it wont even get a chance to retaliate

I found that 2 guns, and about 40 explosive bullets did the trick. Didn't even need to dodge.
Erikon Sep 18, 2022 @ 2:40am
You can either go all ranged, But i found the best way is to do it slow, do not do any combos. Hit it once with a relic weapon, let it react, Hit it again, let it react. That way you have more control over it before it shoots it spikes. Sure it will teleport all over the place but The trick is to just hit it once, and then fall back a little bit.

well yeah, the orb piercer should not be a walk in the park, but when you get use to the dodge timing it actually becomes too easy
Boo Sep 27, 2022 @ 3:02am
Whip out your gat. Orb pierce can't use magic to avoid a bullet flying into its head.
