Cherry VX FAQ
Answers to the most commonly asked questions.

Why are the hands not tracking?

1. Make sure the application is in focus on your desktop. Click inside the game window on your desktop to make sure the app is active and then return to the game.
2. Ensure your controllers are powered and sensed by the headset software before starting Cherry VX.

NB If nothing seems to work please try reinstalling.

My hands are tracking but I can't move the camera or activate 'D-mode'.

Make sure the application is in focus on your desktop. Click inside the game window to make sure the app is active then return to the game.

How do I reorient the view?

Oculus users — look in the desired direction and hold down the joystick button on either controller for 2 seconds.
Non-Oculus users — back out of the game and use the orientation settings in Steam VR to reorient your view.

I forgot the controls.

For VR users: you can replay the tutorial which will go over the controls by clicking on the '?' button at the character select screen.

For Non-VR users: replay the tutorial or press F1 at anytime to see the control scheme.

I can only see 4 poses, where are the rest?

There is a 'NEXT' button outside and to the right of the poses screen which will reveal the next set of poses.

The 'D' keeps disabling when I am trying to interact with models.

Prevent accidental disabling by turning on the 'D-lock' function (point at the lock button on the screen and pull the trigger).

The 'D' is moving away or tracking is lost when my controller is attached to my waist.

1. Make sure clothing or anything else is not covering the sensor ring.
2. Ensure the controller can be seen by external sensors or the headset itself if using an inside-out tracking headset.

I have a Vive Cosmos and the performance is slow, the models are jittery when I move the camera.

Unfortunately for Cosmos users this might be an unavoidable issue. Cherry VX runs smoothly on non-Cosmos headsets. It seems that the Cosmos tracking software has a hard time tracking and running apps at the same time.

Why does the game start in windowed mode?

Our tests have shown that there is a significant jump in performance when running the VR desktop mirror in a small window as opposed to full-screen.

What is the point of having a dedicated Oculus launch option?

Our tests have shown that there are significant differences when comparing Steam VR native and Oculus headsets. An Oculus headset running directly on the Oculus platform results in the optimal experience for Oculus users. Other headsets (Vive, Index etc.) are best suited for the Open VR native platform.

Can I play the non-VR version even though I have a headset?

You can, but you should disconnect your headset by pulling out the USB connection. If you try to launch the non-VR version of Cherry VX with a headset connected Steam VR will automatically launch and you will be asked if you want to run the game in 'cinema' mode. Disconnecting your headset will run non-VR CherryVX as a desktop app.
