Ut2k4 lagging, on a MSI 70 2PE Dominator?
Yeah, so for some reason, during very hectic Instant action matches (i always do them with 32 players) the game actually goes down to 20 fps. I checked with the "Stat fps" command ingame to see what it ended up at. Does anybody here have any idea why the game would lag?
The MSI 70 PE is a laptop, and it is equipped with a;
Nvidia GTX 880 M
I7-4810MQ 2,80GHz (3,60 when at boost)
12 Gigabytes of ram.
I also noticed that even in the most blazing situations, the game only uses about 300-400 megabytes of ram, is this normal?

Make sure that your game runs on your nvidia card and not on your onboard.

Already did that, normally, i my fps lies at around 600+, but all of a sudden, it goes down to 20.

Certain situations and certain maps can cause slowdown. For example, if you play invasion on DM-CartwrightHall with titan enemies (monsters that shoot boulders) or even shoot a redeemer, you'll get intense slowdown (has to do with how the author set up collision for static meshes in the map.) So some details, like map, mutators and game mode would help.

Does the issue occur on standard maps and mods of the game?

Check if you have your energy profile set on low consumption.
You also might want to check if nvidia experience bla bla bla center has applied some funny settings to the game.

Did you recently install any Nvidia update?

Can you try running the game on your onboard gpu? Do you get the same result?
I have a HD4000 and can run in HD resolution on highest settings with stable 90 FPS on standard gamemods and maps.
I dont use intel but the only time my pc does this is when the power saving thingy is slowing the pc down due to lack of core usage, being an old game it will not use much. Just an idea.

Nah, none of the above should be the issue, i play way more requiring games at ultra already, which is why i am so puzzled that this game for some reason lags. But like Blim said, it might be some strange issue where the game simply wont use the resources my laptop has.

In case you have Windows 7, go to energy profile.
Select high profile and edit by going into advanced panel. Search your cpu, disable core-parking.

If you want to be sure your graphics card performs issue free, install xtreme-g custom drivers as nvidia even launches drivers nowadays that crash when their own technologies / softwarecode gets turned on in games like fxaa.

Trying the game to run in opengl instead of d3d might be worth a try to localise the issue.
I you run the game with V-sync, you need to enable tripple buggering in the game ini file, in the D3D part of the ini; I had the same problem, it was dropping in the lower 20 and below sometimes on my GTX 760.
