Unlock Characters for single player

Is there any way to add more character in single player? example I want to play single player campaign with... Brock

There was a semi-complicated way to add characters to single-player on certain disk versions that came with a certian program but Steam does not have this program and you can't download the program as it was never released. I think it was called UPaint. Anyway without it there's no way of adding them to Single-Player. However, if you just want to add Brock and Xan and that Skaarj guy so you can play as them in Instant Action without beating the Single-Player 3 times the here's a hack: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gS1Y9jKGm6c

DO NOT FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTION IN THE ABOVE VIDEO. Editing those files will make you unable to join many online servers. Here is the correct way to unlock ClanLord, Malcolm and Xan:

Open your User.ini. (Located in Steam\SteamApps\common\Unreal Tournament 2004)

Search for

[GUI2K4.UT2k4MainPage]
TotalUnlockedCharacters=

Change it to

[GUI2K4.UT2k4MainPage]
TotalUnlockedCharacters=Malcol­m;ClanLord;Xan


Once you have them unlocked, you can use them for single player. In fact any custom character you have installed can be used as the main character for the single player campaign - So disregard what Eggman said above. Upaint has nothing to do with it.

Once you start a save file, any custom characters you have installed that are of "human" species can also be recruited as free agents. The selection is based on which characters you have installed when you create the save, so any characters you install afterward will not be available.

You can download and install lots of custom characters (in fact I've made quite a few.)

Thanks But I want to play the game like crazy **** and unlock them =P and my question was if there is any way to add or have others caracters in single player like example I want to play the single player with mokara, abaddon, dominator, etc

Hey, man. If it's still relevant to you, I can help you out. You can play as any character AND hire any character, if you dupe them as humans (i.e not Nighmares, Aliens, Robots, etc). Need details?

It has been my dream to play as Remus and other characters from start in single player/campaign.

I have always wanted to play Remus, Malcolm etc in single player, so i know how you feel. Did you suceed? :@

A bit. It took me a lot of dedication and experimenting (and a bit of reverse engineering) to figure out some things.

Unzip and put these .upl files into your ...\UT2004\System\ folder. They are essentially copies of the characters or their unused duplicates, which you can play as or hire in Single Player. This includes the bosses which you no longer have to beat or cheat out. Also, you can also hire Mr.Crow, Arclite, and some other characters and not just play as them. As a bonus, I have added proper Iron Guard team members, fixed the new robots' ragdolls, and made Skaarj bleed red as they should have. It has a few minor bugs, which are manageable.

im working on it right now, but has some trouble, after i download the "zip package" with all files, they are all upl files, and im not sure what to do, so i'll just try to put them in UT folder :) :p.
anyway. does it matter if i use steam version?

Version shouldn't matter. As far as Editor's Choice Edition is concerned, at least (these files include MechaSkaarj characters, the *players3 ones).

What's the trouble? I told you to put all .upl files in your System folder, and that's it. Start a new career and have fun.

I started UT2004 but couldnt still find any characters. So i try to restart my computer now.

As someone mentioned above, new characters will not show up in your old saves. You need to create a new singleplayer profile. As for characters, they're supposed to be visible when you choose "ALL" and not any of the race names in the player settings menu.
