It still blows my mind they would remove the games though. Considering there's still content to enjoy solo. It's just stupid for the sake of stupid.

That's because, their meanly pushing for support Epic Online service (which is a bad thing).
It provides Voice Chat, Parental Controls, and Parental Verification.

Which is makes me sad, because I first played UT2004 since 2006, and now all of their classic games is going away, but Unreal Tournament 3 is going to be re-released in like 2024 or later (no sure). :(

I glad OpenSpy supports it but I can't trust that yet.

Every classic stuff that I enjoy is come to an end.

Tencent (Chinese Company) owned Epic Games by 40% so Epic Games is going to be bad and gets worser and worser every month ever since 2012.

Sad stuff happens.

Everything is starts to be like Mattel (a company that ruined HiT Entertaiment).

Tencent (Chinese Company) ruins Epic Games (biggest problem is Fortnite)

Mattel ruins HiT Entertainment (biggest problem is Thomas and Friends: All Engines Go)

Well, as a game company Rpic might be ruined, but Unreal Engine is in very good shape. There's simply no competition (unless you want to have a very painful intercourse with Unity, constantly cursing whoever invented Unity's messed up architecture where every single bone in a character model is a separate object in the scene, because Unity doesn't support components with their own transforms, and you can't even create child classes of scene object class, so you have to use broken prefab system, which never works properly because it's just a very sh**y replacement for a normal OOP practices. And of course the fact the in Unreal you're using c++ with full access to the whole Engine's code, while jn Unity you're stuck with slow c# with no access to any internal c++ components of the Engine).

The licensing fees kept a lot of devs away from ue4, and now even more from ue5. Doesn't matter how much simpler it is to program (not a ton considering UT4 flopped with a decent sized team) if you don't make any money. God forbid you want to add the latest Nvidia tech to your game, too. Add the 30% Steam fee if you want to list here. Every dime will go to someone else.

And yet a lot of devs embrace UE, especially when the Unity pricing scandal happened.

UT3 exists, UT3X/UT4 was cancelled in favor of Fortnite.

You can still buy UT99, UT2004, UT3 as CD/DVD games, via Amazon or eBay.

Epic Games has delisted the UT series on digital storefronts as they wanted to push gamers to the Epic Online Services.

We know that they deliverly delisted all unreal games off from any digital storefront due to forcing us to use Epic Online service.

It's always about money.

Many companies is about money.

Some people said Epic delisted some unreal games, which there is no some, but there is all like entire. My opinion is, Epic delisted all unreal games just to get us to move on. It's terrible.

Yes, there are liars out there especially Epic Games is a piece a liar, lie about their online service (such as security), they lie about Fortnite, they lie about their anti-cheat, they lie about Steam Deck.

Methinks that Epic will be forced to re-list the Unreal games back on digital storefronts, as they'll painfully realise they cannot blackmail gamers to use Epic Online Services.

These are not old games, these are decades old games, they ought to have become free open source code long ago!

Gaming industry must adopt a norm that all publishers should be forcibly made to release/open their source code and assets of their video games to public domain after a decade. Just like copyrights expire for books, etc. This way a lot of great games will avoid becoming abandonware, when their studios go kaput.

Live Service games and microtransactions in games should also be banned. Every game should be allowed to be played offline, even multiplayer ones (using bots instead, when played offline). Forced wokeness should also be banned from video games.

Video game industry will devolve into a dark miasma, if its evil practices continue.

I think I already have all them on both Steam and GOG, but the latter who is into game preservation should put more pressure and even offer to host online lobbies for the legacy Unreal/UT games.

they abandoned ut4 in favour of fortnight. They were expecting a game in alpha stage to bring in numbers like a full release like fortnight did, when that didn't happen they pulled the plug. I haven't bough anything on the epic store out of principle, they abandoned the game series that made them famous in favour of money. They even kept telling what little of the Unreal community remained that ut 4 was only on hold not abandoned then years later after complete silence and no updates they finally told people that ut4 is no longer happening. It is my honest opinion that digital extremes should buy the unreal license and make a new unreal tournament, because epic will never make a new UT ever again. For those who don't know, digital extremes are the devs behind warframe, unreal tournament - unreal tournament 2004, basically the best ones.

I am in favor for Digital Extremes to make an Unreal Tournament game.

That's unlike to happen in next few years.

See this thread for the sad situation of the source code of the grand daddy of arena shooters.
