UT2004 Activity

Hi,

So I played this game about 3 years ago at a friend's and want to get it on steam. However, I want a friend to play it with me, so I was wondering how active the multiplayer community is. Also, I glanced something about a CD key issue on Windows 7 and Windows 8 that dissables people from playing online. Has anybody encountered this? My friend and I both run Windows 7, so I don't wanna get the game if we can't play online. Any help is appreciated.

Most cd-key issues to 2k4 appear to occur with buying the Unreal Deal bundle. As well there are people reporting issues with just the stand alone. But that issue prevents you from booting the game. So far there is only one issue on the forum about a refuse to play online.

I've bought the standalone 2k4 title on Steam and experienced zero issues. The only manual change I did is copy my user and ut2004.ini from my CD install to the steam folder.
For me it works flawless on Win 7 and 8 and i've got it functional even on my tablet.

Thanks a bunch for the offer, but I ended up trading 4 keys for 2 copies (one for me, one for a friend, a steal considering that the price of 2 copies should be $30 and yet I only had to spend $10 getting them). The game is incredibly fun, we've both been enjoying it, and the multiplayer has worked just fine for us. The servers are active enough for my taste, and most servers have bots running on them even if there are no other players on the server, meaning that even if the two of us are the only two people on the server, it won't be just us (and I'd say the bots are pretty good).

So yeah, all the questions I asked have been answered. I just installled it and started playing it with no issues. Thanks again for the help though. Have a good one!
