Ballistic Weapons (BWX) & WoE Systemic Pickups Cygen Mechs???
So I have almost built the perfect, modern shooter game out of UT2004 with certain mods. I have added a progression system by adding TitanRPG, upgraded the visuals and feel of the shooting mechanics with Ballistic Weapons (specifically the BWX version), even added the ability to have custom classes and kill rewards with BW, Swiss Army Target Painter & the Sentinel sentry turrets mods.... Now, I am trying to add the mechs from the Weapons of Evil (WoE) Cygen 'sentinel & systemic pickups' mutator/mod. Finally tweaked the settings in BW to allow the mechs to spawn normally and everything is working perfectly aside from one tiny, but major, thing... Upon pressing the use button on the Mech's little spawner thing that replaces armor/health pickups I turn into the Mech but do not have any weapons. Still have the change of the screen effects, height, model, movement, radar, etc.

Literally everything works but there are no rockets or miniguns in my arms to fire when 'becoming' the Mech after using it. De-activated the BWX mutator, but kept all other mods active, and they worked as intended, it's just upon re-activating BWX or any form of Ballistic Weapons the spawned mechs do not have their weapons. I noticed in games without BW or BWX the bots use the mechs fine but since using BW/BWX makes the Mechs not have weapons to use the bots jump in them and then seem to instantly hit Eject (and actually eject after the mandatory countdown it has).

Am still playing with the settings in BWX to see if anything will get it working (like the 'keep super weapons' options, etc).Will report back if I find anything else out, but if anyone has any ideas as to the problem please let me know. Would really, really appreciate help in fixing this since this is basically the one last thing this game needs to become my favorite deathmatch shooter. Editing the config files for the mods is not a problem so if that's required just let me know what needs to be done. Thanks for any help!

EDIT: Is there a way to influence the load order priority of the mutators the game loads? I would think forcing UT04 to load the mech mod as a priority over BWX would fix this. -It's in Instant Action if that helps.

BWX can be known for being buggy. We have been working on the ballistic weapons complete collection which can be a little smoother and with less bugs. I woukd have to give this mech mod a go which would be able to help us diagnose the problem?

I do prefer BW Gold as it seems a bit more stable but I have come to love thew few new weapons in BWX and the PiP scopes on a few of the 're-done' weapons. But here is the mechs mod if you want to try it out:

For BW, are you using loadout or swaps? Swaps might cause issues but with loadout, by enabling non BW weapons and adding them to the loadouts. keeping super weapons setting only keeps the super weapons that are available for use on the map, such as the redeemer or any modded weapons classified as a super weapon.

Regarding loading order and loading in general, opening the console in the main menu and typing showlog will show any errors you get with mods as you load them, which may help you get to your issue. there is another answer which would include:
BWX is hard coded to use its weapons and only its weapons, since the guys who made it wanted it to be their only way of playing and not be changed.

This is troubleshooting before ive given the mod a try. let me know if anything changes :)

Okay. Thx. I will try some more after I get up (almost 3AM here). Ironic, modders making a mod they don't want you to change up at all. I only ever use loadouts btw. Normal, not evolution.

There is a large red down-pointing arrow on the right. Clicking that begins the download. I can upload the file I just downloaded from it via mediafire, but don't want to publicly post the modders work elsewhere. So I can pm you a private link if you want?
I am blind! Got the file thank you! Will look into it for you. Just a reminder i am using the BW Complete Collection mod, but the settings should be very similar. Also regarding your comment earlier on weapons, the complete collection has all those BWX bonus weapons and more ;) . However the PiP Scopes it does not have since it saves on RAM and FPS. Will give the mod a look

The Readme States:
"Sentinel allows players to place sentinel drones in the level through
overriding the default pickups in the game."
Ballistic Loadout also does this. They are both trying to override eachother.

Well I gotta go for now, but that's why I asked about turning off BWXs function to do that or placing it's priority down. Cuz the mech pickups spawn & work, just the guns don't show up once you enter the mechs. Either way... i'll check back. Thx.
Thats ok lad. come to a comclusion. There is a cheese way of fixing it, but it might not work at all since i couldnt get BW and WoE working together. In the Ballistic Loadout settings, enable "Use All Weapons" and make sure the WOE Weapons are enabled in the loadout. This means that if a bot uses a mech, they Might have the weapons in their inventory and might be able to use the mechs. There is always the chance of giving up 2 loadout slots for both these weapons so that the bots Always spawn with these weapons even when they are not in the mech.

Apart from this method, there is no way to overwrite swap mutators and to get it fully working without this method, you would need to do some hard coding.

Hmmmmm.... okay. When you say 'enable all weapons' where is that config? Like which tab is it under in the mutator settings? Also if you can't get the two working together I can try to upload a private link of my current entire UT04 modded folder (minus vanilla files & maps to get the size way down) if you want. Finally, would it help/fix the issue by doing a complete wipe & changing over to Gold 2.5 instead of BWX? I'd rather have the Mechs than the PiP scopes.

On a side note is there any way(short of using the editor) to increase the speed of aim down sights for the weapons in any of the BW iterations? I know a couple of the versions have a speed slider to adjust this but I never noticed a difference when adjusting it. I mean like editing a config file in the system folder? Just curious because I rarely use sights on most weapons since the animation is so slow on the majority of them.

Last little question here to bother you with :) - Are you a developer on the base BW? If you don't wanna say it's fine, but I figured maybe that was the case due to your level of knowledge on the subject.
Changing to 2.5 or pro or any other base version of BW wont change anything. The "enable all weapons" should be in the "loadout" tab of the mutator.
Another day i will try with BWE on my GOG version of the game, its like a test version for me.

The best thing i would probably recommend is getting these mech pickups and turning them into some form of vehicles. But that takes time with hard code.

Scoping speeds on BW weapons vary on which weapon you choose do to its weight. This also varies depending on the base BW mod. I dont believe there is anyway to change this without commands or code.

Im not a dev of the original BW, BWE, pro or the skbp bonus packs. However i am working I on a final edition to the mod called the "complete collection", which would include all weapons made throughout the history of BW, plus a few unreleased ones, plus a few of my own. With the help of sgt kelly and a few other old faces of the mod! Honestly worth checking out as we have a fully fledged community of 100+ getting involved with the monthly updates. There are alot of details about this either on the modDB page or on my steam guide. Which i will link underneath.

Just checked it out... that does look better lol! Downloading now. Curious though... any plans to convert the full screen scopes over to PiP like BWX? Either way think i'm migrating to this Definitive Edition.
Sadly PiP scopes have too much of a performance hit on older PCs. I would carry them across myself but have no motivation to do so. Have more motivation to bring across the weapons and new content! Which is happening over the coming months! 😜. That mga88 will be in the mod along with a hybrid scope MG 😉. Defo keep note on the discord where we post updates 😊
