UT4 alpha was pretty playable last year, but few things, yet.
i like some new maps, with referfences to x-files, another world or even TF2(Mine), not much assault mode content, yet both game and engine advance quite fast in development.
Some guys are butt-hurt that the game play isn't an exact replica of UT99 (my desire) or UT 2004. Just ignore them and try it out for yourself since it is free. As far as maps go, as always, that's the last thing to worry about - UT has always been about user-made custom maps and there won't be any shortage of those for UT4. Heck, I've produced 5 CTF maps myself already.
I can run the new UT on my flipping tablet from 2013 with a playable FPS. The scalability of the engine is just awesome. It is not how marketing works, it is progression/evolution.
Sorry but if your still using an old toaster for a computer with an old school boobtube monitor you honestly need to get a life outside of playing old school 80s-90s era games. Unreal Engine 4 is absolutely one of the less hardware intensive engines out there when it comes to modern gaming and if you can't run it your using ancient hardware and need to replace it.
Sorry but if I can play Planetside 2, a game easily more hardware-intense than any title on UE4, I think i should be able to play UT4 without overheating. Y'know, since I can play Planetside 2 no problem for hours, yet I play UT4 for maybe an hour and I'm on the verge of overheating, since my computer does so at about 60 degrees.
And I know it's more hardware-intensive, because unless you know of any, there are 0 games where more than 200+ players can be viewed on-screen and only then will my computer MAYBE start to overheat.
Graphics-intensive? Sure, it's probly less straining than most "High Definition" AAA games out there, but CPU-Wise?
Come on. Name any game released 3 years ago and I can probly run it more than UT4.
Also, If you're going to criticize someone for only playing "80s-90s" games, then atleast look at my library and ask yourself. How can that statement even vaguely hold ANY merit at all, when literally 90% of my games were released in the last 5-10 years.
Clearly a troll, since I play this game for hours on end, and it was released... when... 2004?
Also? UT3. I can run that on the lowest of settings and it won't tax my system, but UT4? Yeah, no, overheat city after an hour of play.
And I'm not the kind of person who plays for only about a half hour. When I play a game, I expect to play it for a couple of hours.
Just saying.
I am getting 100-115fps @1680x1050 in UT4 using a 10 year old Dell with 4GB of RAM, and 7 year old HD5770 1GB videocard.
Exactly you have to be using like super ancient technology or a complete idiot when it comes to computers to not be able to run UT4. I have never seen someone have issues with it except people that use hand me down toaster rigs.
