Park / Fountain puzzle (current solution) - Please tell me, WHY this works
The current keys I needed to press were apple, raven, eye and clover.
I have NO IDEA why, though. I tried looking at solutions online, but neither here in the discussion, nor in the walkthroughs I checked was this either puzzle
a) mentioned at all
or
b) shown in a state who-knows-how-many-updates-ago, so that I couldn't follow what they were doing.

So, no: you don't have to put heavy things on the plates (what was what I thought for my whole normal playthrough, because I never saw the gnomes move).
You step on the plates to move the corresponding gnomes close by.
Then you use your little monitor to see what they're looking at. Online (in a previous version ?) there seems to have been a night-vision mode for the monitor which showed you the symbols to press than. Yet I don't know whether this still exists - I couldn't turn this on any obvious way.
With one of the gnomes you see a raven on the side of the mountain your camerea building is situation on, so I tried RAVEN.
The next gnome I tried didn't produce anything remarkable AT ALL, but looked clearly at the apple on top of the fountain - so I tried APPLE.
And then I just picked the other two symbols AT COMPLETE RANDOM, going by which struck me as the most "iconographic" so to speek and landed on EYE and CLOVER.

And that was it, I guess. Randomly succeeded first try. But by sheer chance, none the less.

Please tell me what the heck I was supposed to be doing ? The two gnomes closest to the mansion didn't show anything useful to me, and I even fed the damn cat with a small fish-thing I found near the mansion entrance, YET STILL I couldn't move the corresponding gnome. What the hell ?!

Running into the gnomes makes them spark, and if they're rotated towards the right location, they will go into this "night vision mode" and show the symbol
Oh my god. I can't believe you're right. Who on earth came up with this ?! NOWHERE else in the game (nor in ANY game) is it a mechanic to "bump" into things to trigger something.

And I just tested it in a second play-through - I'm not dumb: Those pesky gnomes DON'T MOVE when stepping on those plates FOR MOST OF THE GAME! So of course I couldn't guess that at the end they spontaneously would!

Nonetheless. Cool game. Hadn't even realized that the whole Forest-section I took for a normal, old-fashioned part of the game, was seemingly added only days ago in Update 9. Good for me. :-)

To be fair, the solution WAS in the patch notes, but it is an odd solution nonetheless
