UT3 Patch Allows You to Play After Gamespy Shutdown

As you may have heard, Gamespy is shutting down this weekend. We want to be sure you’re still able to play Unreal Tournament 3 Multiplayer. Thanks to community member Shambler, we have a patch that will allow you to continue playing. We also want to thank all of the server admins and other community members who have helped test the patch to be sure it’s ready to go. (We’re looking at you Bubbaxm2 and Hedsteem!)

IMPORTANT TECHNICAL STUFFS: This “patch” is actually a replacement executable that will direct you to the new Unreal Tournament 3 master server which we have moved to the Epic Games server bank along with the Unreal Tournament 99 and Unreal Tournament 2004 servers.

Once you have the new .exe and go to log on it will tell you that username and password are wrong. You will need to recreate any and all of your usernames on the new master server as all of the ones you have registered on Gamespy will go away with Gamespy. You can use the same names as before and even the same passwords, you just need to have them registered on the new server now instead of Gamespy.

Unfortuantely the duplicate log in error is something that will never go away for good. It relies on the users connection to the master server, so if the connection is not solid this error will still continue to happen. Some have gone years and only seen it once or twice while others see it almost daily.

I've purchased the UT3:BE. Tried logging in, it says error, I might have misstyped, etc. Tried creating my profile anew, it says the name is "already in use". I heard about gamespy so when I read I should check there for more info I immediately knew that won't work and started googling for Unreal Tournament 3 gamespy patch.

I have downloaded the patch(ed executable) and applied it, ran it from steam, then manually as administrator (I even tried another download that had "steam" version in it's name but so far I think it's the same thing) but in the end I notice no change. I still get the you misstyped error / name already in use.

Any idea why? Yes, I've launched the game with the new exe.

hi, i have this game original since it came out. And it says i do not own this produst. HOw i activate UT3 on steam. I have installed all the time.
My achievements are not shown. Also, Multypplayer.. waht i have to do to play again?
And ya, when i want to go online in the game it wont let me connect, is that because gamespyarcade or what?

If you have it activated on steam you shouldn't need the gamespy patch but you will have to create your username on the new master server since gamespy is gone for good. If you are already set up on the master server and are still having priblems them try and run the game as admin or launching it directly from the ut3 exe in the binaries folder.

i played already.. and my achievements does not count.. that sucks kinda. Also i had flak master 2 times i think and it did now show here. I have created new user name ya. can i put my old achievements here some how or i have to play again???

Not sure, but I believe the achievemants will be tied to your steam account no matter what name you use but once again I am not sure about this one. There has always been a bit of a delay in achievements showing up, even before gamespy shut down.
