It's more than a boomer shooter. There's an interesting twist: you need to always use the correct weapon against a given type of enemy, otherwise it doesn't do a thing. You can't fix a bad fitting dress with a paint gun. It ups the difficulty quite a bit, but trust me - they made it work.

Obviously the concept is ridiculous, and the game embraces that fact. When "fixing" an enemy instead of hearing a death scream, you hear the announcer say how amazing the refashioned person looks: SEXY! DEBONAIR! DAYUM! FIERCE! And of course you get to see their new self standing there, thankful and much happier. It doesn't get in the way of fighting, as the "reformed" criminals are almost invisible when there's still danger around.

This light tone lends itself well to humour and classic memes. And by classic, I do mean classic. Since it's a boomer shooter, it contains some "boomer memes" (this is a misnomer, but let's just roll with it). Make no mistake: whoever made this is well-versed in the language of the early internet and uses that knowledge to make ridiculous mishmashes which, when combined with creative and fun game design, create some incredibly memorable and fun moments.

I need to stress this here: normally I hate memes and pop culture references in games, they just yank me out of whatever immersion I had. But here they not only work, they get away with insane levels of meme saturation. It's just that kind of a game.

It also breaks some conventions of the shooter genre, but it does it with gusto. Your weapons (except the ultimate one) have unlimited ammo, and only one of them requires reloading. Your melee attack isn't so melee, it actually has quite a bit of range, and it's main utility is stunning. Exploding barrels contain glitter, so they hurt your enemies, but heal you. And there is no sprinting, instead there's... making the floor slippery.

Okay, this part actually sucks. In order to move fast, you must use a specific weapon to spray water on the floor, and then "slide" on it. It doesn't really work so well; what makes things worse is that there are some platforming/parkour sections which require you to use this. I fell so many times because I just couldn't get the feel for it. Luckily, the most annoying of those sections is an optional challenge, so at least there's that.

Oh, and some people are complaining about the belt swinging. I don't know, I found it cool. Maybe they made it easier? I think it works just fine. You don't have to use it all that much, anyway.

Finally, something that I really liked is that even though the game's protagonist is a male fashionista, it doesn't contain any direct LGBT references. I don't mean it in a homophobic way, though - quite the opposite. I think it's ridiculous that we associate good fashion sense in men with being gay. This kind of mindset hurts all men - straight and otherwise. If I want to slay some puss while wearing high heels and a red overcoat, let me. Okay?

I think the game's great. It's pretty, it's fun, it's got good humour, and there's some really good music, too. I've played most of the game on Hard difficulty ("You reap what you sew") and I had to lower it towards the end because the fights got a little too tough. Enjoy!

Well, this one was surely a breath of fresh air in this stream of "boomer shooters"! No blood, gore and guts here, it's all glam, fashion, style and silly light hearted references packed in a neat set of varied missions and accompanied by an amazing OST worth the price on its own if you are a fan of SEGA-style music with a funky approach, in fact, if you like that sort of piano/grand jazz/keyboard synth ultra melodic songs that glue to your mind, this is for you. Indeed, sound design is just as prominent as the visuals here.

Anyway, quick mechanics rundown: your character is extremely agile and fast, there is no dash but there is a melee weapon used to hop and climb to greater distances. You get a small set of weapons (including one that let's you jump further ahead and move even faster) and they are arranged in a system where each one needs to be used on different enemy types to stunlock them or deal damage, that is until you get the equivalent of the BFG (which the devs kindly provide infinite ammo for if you clear the game). Each weapon fits a certain purpose and they will not be effective against certain enemy types. This is telegraphed both via audio and visual cues so you are quickly told you need to switch weapons.

Now, things get extremely chaotic and challenging once you face enemy waves with enemy combinations that require you to move around and switch like a madman until you fashionize all those terrible criminals. Each time you eliminate a target an Unreal Tournament/Devil May Cry 5 style loud voice will scream phrases and that already elevates the game above others. It just oozing style and I loved it so much more for it. It's a good way to accompany the combat! Again, it may not be the wailing of demons and electric guitars and an angry armored dude but it sure is a learning experience on fashion words in English, heh.

At the end of each mission you are evaluated by the amount of secrets, swag (basically, armor items) and enemies arrested for that sweet-yet-OCD 100% completion goal. These tallies are done incredibly well in a silly fashion parade style, with bosses getting their own special screens.

The story is kind of a spoof full of references (not gonna spoil) and certainly not quintessential to the experience although I would certainly love if the next game contains even more voiced dialogue (only the intro is voiced, the rest is what I can only describe as Banjo Kazooie noises), although the delivery and writing could make or break it. Having all enemies voiced is also great as the quotes they spew are just as ridiculous as expected, chockfull of memes that keep the arenas engaging.

While for many it may not reach the heights of some of the new torch bearers of this new old school era like DUSK or Ultrakill, the style is extremely well done, entertaining and packed with enough humor to get a special highlight. My only gripe was that a few of the encounters are confined into extremely small arenas for the amount of enemies you face and that gives you little room for maneuvers and there were a few performance hiccups using the melee belt, other than that the game ran smoothly on my PC.

I really hope the devs are working on a sequel that refines elements and ups the ante or just brings us more joy and fun to cut it up a bit with all the disembowelments and violence. Sometimes we just need a break from that with some colours and laughter. Props to the devs, hats off and suit up!

It's not a terribly long game so even aiming for the 100% should be doable. Very recommended and if on sale, even more recommended but also get it with the OST! It comes with FLACs which is always a huge plus!

This game is what it appears to be - a catwalk of stylish ideas rekindling an old flame with a plethora of fresh twists. It's almost unbecoming how long it took me to connect. I wasn't feeling it until a multitude of mechanics finally clicked together. It's a slow starter, but I think the devs acted wisely by introducing them gradually instead of making a mess. After a couple of hours, I could see the full picture and caught myself deeply engaged with the systems in place. Now, let's dispense some judgement on this proudly judgemental game.

The story takes place in Trendopolis, a leading city in fashion, dizzying heights, and breakneck chases. Gazing at the vibrant vistas from the rooftops, I felt like I was visiting a town from Transport Tycoon. The striking colour palette is seeping juice and the pixel art is meticulous, emanating craftsmanship. On top of that, the game periodically delivers cool gags, brilliantly spoofing bigwigs like MGS, Wolfenstein, CoD, even old-fashioned racing games. And not by making some feeble references but through well-made playable sketches that fit into the world aesthetically and don't overstay their welcome.

Aside from aesthetics, FPS emphasizes its story and characters. The protagonist, Sergeant Des, is trusting and confident, he even gets a clever little character arc at the end. His fashion sense resembles that of M. Bison. Cosplay is all the rage, I suppose. His partner officer Haley is featured prominently by partaking in most conversations. She plays a role of a level-headed and strict archetype, talking sense into Des, yet she doesn't come off as condescending when doing so, being a loyal and respectful companion. Soon, Deep Coat enters the picture, bringing with him a voguish mystery that unfolds throughout the playthrough, culminating in many hilarious payoffs.

Looking holistically, the story is gratuitous nonsense played for a joke. The game is aware of the fact, treating its characters and twists with sass, paying more attention to its clothing puns all three-and-a-half fashionistas may fully appreciate. I can't help but respect this tailored approach! If anything, this commitment to the thematic throughline is impressive. Only a niche audience could make the most of it by recognising all the nuances, yet the game was made to be enjoyed by everyone. I did, and I'm a notorious fashion criminal. Despite the inherently divisive subject matter, FPS never gives off any elitist vibes. It's too nonchalant and cheerful for such antiquated notions.

The beginning levels are flat, lacking in branching or environmental interactivity. I also wasn't happy with unlimited ammo, because it made me almost indifferent to secrets, which, despite being inventively tucked away, don't contain interesting items to find, only your old health and swag (armour)! Vital stuff, just unexciting. But I forgot all about it when the game began to open up. Its map design always stays straightforward, however, soon I gave in to the sheer charm of its crazy ride through the beauty of surreal absurdity. I adore the abstract set pieces like that Transport Tycoon city, a subway with inventive platforming fights, bathhouses with labyrinthian wardrobe hells, and a colossal cruise boat boasting vent tunnels coated in gold.

Every environment is thought-out, full of imaginative challenges that wouldn't fit anywhere else. Fun acrobatic elements with good air control as well as many hazards get introduced later in the game. They range from traditional explosive barrels to trampolines and poles to swing from by using the Belt of Justice as a grappling hook. Thus, platforming in search for scissors to cut ribbons Des "can't possibly get past", your analogue of cards and keys, never feels like a chore. Finally, someone tackled that ancient trope in a manner most fabulous! In the same manner, the game makes sure to entertain you between battles while doing its best to diversify gameplay scenarios.

With those getting more exciting the more stunts like jumping from one side of the metro station to the other over electrified rails you get to perform. Not to mention several intense challenge missions and these wonderful spoofs of classic franchises presented in hands-on, interactive ways. Take the gnome-shooting sniper segments with "unfit" and "hair" bullet types. Although I sucked so hard I kinda hated those, I must admit they're solid. But I loved the other ones a lot, be that a lightning-fast vehicle turret segment or VR speedrunning parkour levels. None of them felt superfluous, enriching an already saturated game even further.

It's a non-violent game, by the way. Des doesn't kill, he fashionizes his grateful victims. You still shoot people though! Spilling no blood or gore, but the paint clouds, resounding thuds, and impactful feedback compensate for it. Refashioned enemies keep standing and it would've been a problem if they didn't become elegantly transparent during fights. And some fights they are! Local boss battles, for one, are some of the most complex engagements I've ever seen in a shooter! This is where the game's playful nature goes truly wild, letting its mechanics shine, and the best gags get introduced. Normal brawls don't lag far behind. FPS is one of these classic Doom-like shooters that, while having dedicated arenas that lock you in, constantly drips intermediary side gigs that can be just as layered as the main attractions.

Each encounter forces you to correctly assess your ever-changing predicaments and rapidly swap guns according to your targets' overlapping weaknesses. It's a quaint take on rock, paper, scissors. But these tools aren't glamorous enough. Instead, get your hands on an assortment of thematically coherent guns that put commitment to the themes on display. Use the Belt of Justice as a stunning melee option, a paint shotgun to brighten up the day, a sewing machine gun shooting buttons and grenades, and sock gnomes for special occasions. A water cannon deals with loud and oversized garments and can be also used to spray soapy water on the floor in front of you to run faster and jump further. Finally, the Ultimate Fashionizer shooting vacuum-packed wardrobe rockets crowns this humble but effective collection. To boot, every weapon gets a cool secondary fire.

By refashioning people, you fill the Fab Meter to slap some fashion sense into them with your Fab Slap Glove. Basically, it allows you to skip an odd fight in style. But it won't always be that easy, you'll have to learn your enemy. The criminals represent a range of tacky stereotypes, possessing unmistakable shapes and easily distinguishable sound cues. From suitcase-tossing office drones and jumping Karens with pepper sprays to nefarious scooter bastards or beach dads in speedos, and every one of them demands special treatment. To underline how complex it gets, the beach dad first demands the use of sock gnomes to get rid of the armour, then a grenade to blast off the speedos, and a quick button-up to finish him off, all in this exact order. Here's how a myriad of little quirks come together to form a hardcore and highly entertaining combat system.

Des is quick on his feet and slick, being able to lash his way out of trouble in most circumstances. I had to use everything in my arsenal, jump, swing around to survive, and did it make me feel good! This game carries a bright spark inside, giving it a special kind of cheerful energy strong enough to light up your mood and make your worst day a little bit better. Mopeful Games, thank you sweethearts for being as you are! Be that your first and last creation or one of many, know that you did a swell job, you magnificent hype beasts. Your game slapped my frumpy cheeks happy.
