The trick with Wires is to understand that Filters are used to connect the underground Wires layer to the overground Belt layer.
Here's a beginner challenge you can start with:
1. Mine a Circle onto a single belt
2. Attach a Filter to the belt
3. Make two belts coming off the Filter
4. Switch to the Wires layer (E key)
5. Choose a Signal with a value of "1" and connect it to the Filter
That's it. Your Circles should pass through the Filter. But if you change the signal to "0", they'll come out of the filter on the other belt. Try it! :)
I know it's a huge necro, but this is the only post I've seen mentioning the Filters...
How does that change from just... Altering the factory yourself? Sure, it's easier to click a button. But from what I'm seeing, it's no different that simply deleting and doing belts. I could see the appeal if it somehow read the shapes and split them accordingly. But if it's manual all the same...
