Building HUB
Is it possible to build HUBs? I'm at lvl 15 and could use more imput slots to the hub or a second HUB

Learn to merge lines and load balancing.

I am at Level 17. No way to get extra hubs atm. gota learn efficenciy and redesign factorys

k.
Its better now since i reached tier6 on research. it makes a lot of belts free.

i don't realy like to put 2 products on one belt. i scale production to one full belt for each product. and right now id like to go for 2 full belts for each product. it takes a while to reach new tiers of research.

lvl 18, I think the last level
no hubs
you dont need more hubs, you have to find out how to handle efficiency

Extraction Tier IV (What I'm at) extracts 3.2 items / s
Belts at Tier IV (Also what I'm at) move 16 items / s

To max out a belt line you'd need 5 Extractors, if you were to build a 6th Extractor you'd need to use a Balancer to move it to a second belt line, otherwise it wouldn't do anything, you'd be wasting a potential extra 3.2 items / s

Tier IV Balancers can shift 32 items / s aswell, so you can have 10 Extractors going into one Balancer onto two lines.

That means:
If your goal is 12 items/s cause of standard conveyor belt, you have to:
Stacker 12:2= 6
Cutter 12:3= 4
-> 6x Stacker = 4x Cutter (see above)

If you need more of that ratio:
6x Cutter = 9x Stacker

Or in my savegame a good ratio is:
Color Mixer lvl 5
= 3,2 items/s * 5 = 16 i/s
Extractor lvl 5
= 4 items/s * 4 = 16 i/s
-> So I build 4 Extractors to feed my 5 color mixers with 100%.

Most buildings have 2-to-3-ratio that means build faster factory and multiply it with 1,5 so you have the amount of slower factory.

honestly i don't understand the 'efficient' theory. no matter how you phrase it.
you cant expand anymore after you have 16 full belts of stuff.
(by expand i mean increase your income of products)

this is not a complaint. i dont mind not being able to build a hub. but it wil be the limiting factor to how big your factory wil be (the part that actualy produces) and no matter how 'efficient' you play. you won't be able to compress more stuf on one belt, then someone that brute forces it with a bulky factory.

You can still upgrade your belts. After you have 16 full fully upgraded belts that's when you can't expand anymore. And that should only be reachable by the end of the game, on final level.

Really just sounds like you're overproducing items, if you upgrade your belts to transport more items per second and you're still running into problems of maxing them out, then you're definitely overproducing stuff.
Korosevar Jun 16, 2020 @ 10:07am
haha that could be it. i gues i should focus on one research instead of doing al the upgrades at the same time. again. it gets better at tier 6 upgrades. but @ tier 5 with 4 to 5 ingredients for each upgrade 16 belts just didn't do it for me.

I find that by the time I've built one item, a previous item is defunct and can be deleted, with 4 tiers of items at most with 4 per tier going in (by the fifth, the first item is so massively over-produced I delete it)... I have a massive base, just my 'template' storage area is several times bigger than max zoom out, and my main bus line has nearly 40 supply conveyors...

The game does overemphasize increasing production a lot. If you have a bunch of the same item coming in, you'll have less room for other different items. So in that regard it may not always be wise to produce as much as possible like the game sometimes hints for you to do.

I currently have each unique item coming in at only one belt at a time. Could be faster, but I like it this way since it keeps slots open for when I decide to produce something new, either after achieving a new level or attaining a new upgrade.

Merging belts that are on the way to the hub is definitely a good idea if the combined feed doesn't exceed the max. For example, two belts each feeding 7/s when the max belt capacity is 20/s. Combining them will still let both products push forward to the hub at the same speed as before, no loss at all. If their outputs combined do exceed belt max though, then it will slow down somewhat depending on how much it exceeds by.

But yeah.... If you have four or more of the 16 slots of your hub designated for all the same item, you might be overproducing, unless you are very very short on the amount of that item for a milestone.
