Purpose of the ghosts "Gather" work priority?

What exactly does the ghosts work priority for "Gather" do? I have been trying to figure out what the purpose of it is as they do not seem to gather anything at all? Am I simply overlooking some mechanic/option?

Seems like Gather is for stuff like Water and Ores (e.g. Copper Mine), but the ghosts indeed don't take things from animals, collect crops and stuff like that.

Ah, I figured that just fell into the crafting category as its the same exact mechanic of Stand there and watch progress % go up.

How do you make them gather?? I want them to gatter water but I cant figure it out...

I want to say you need the Well first before they can begin to gather water?
