But you must have really used a lot of resources! O.O I'm still beating my head against the island pirate boss and failing, and I've got two chests filled with smelted bars, and another two chests with either raw or ground ore I'm slowly processing.
This just isn't true. Almost all resources can be gathered from enemies and enemies can be respawned as much as you like With the sleeping bag
For copper I would run the last part of the canyon, lots of scrap there. Iron will be a bit harder at your level. As Darke suggests look for enemies that drop broken weapons and farm them.
if you've unlocked the Scrapper I recommend using that instead or making the bars out of ore, as the scrap is not too hard to obtain and overall far cheaper to produce from.
If you want copper I suggest making a teleport in The Mines first floor (The one with the Rat people) which you've been through already in the Canyon Desert map as you can get tons of copper and a bit of planks scrap in one run through that. If you need more mobs to get more, set up a sleeping bag, as you'll have the option to respawn all of them in just that area.
As far as Iron goes, so far it seemed like maybe the turtles in the Tropical Biome for you at this stage in the game.
At a later date I might suggest grinding lizards may be better for iron scrap and you'll want the ambers and rubies too.
Also if you ever feel like getting materials from trees without cutting them down and deforesting so much use a blunt weapon and bring some food. You can get apples and twigs from the starting area, dates, bananas, coconuts, palm leaf, logs from the different trees in the Tropical biome (its the chunky ones with the palm leaves at the top in the jungle part that give logs and palm leaf). The great thing about it is it refreshes every so often its not just a one off, its an alternative there too for stuff.
