The only thing that “depletes” the pod is the Asteroid event. That actively damages parts and the only way to fix is start cannibalizing other components.
But yes, the main game (Rescue and Endless) are not at all about permanently repairing the pod. They are simply survive until rescue or survive as long as you can.
There wouldn’t be a game if it were repairing the pod because as mentioned, when each device has all its components, there’s really nothing to do or fix indefinitely.
