EDIT: Of course, this statement is only true for the current state of the game and as long as you do not manipulate the atmospheric pressure in any other way.
I haven't come across any situations yet where I suddenly had to flood the escape pod with an entire cannister of liquid nitrogen to survive, anyhow.
You can cool down the escape pod by turning off the main generator. This doesn't cost any liquid nitrogen, but it'll cause other problems.
To prevent all my h/w from frying I ended up going full battery as I had no other way to safely use the reactor output... it bought me a few extra minutes before all my pumps failed simultaneously.
Data Connectors can mess about with malfunctions.
