In order of release. Crusaders then Heroes.

Crusaders then Heroes. In Crusaders the first two campaigns are tutorials and Heroes introduces more units and shows more sides of the story (some of the campaigns being a prequel of sorts). Both amazing games though

If playing the Human Campaign.

Heroes for Ellen > Crusaders for Gerald > Heroes for Rupert.

Heroes has a lot of prequel campaigns that go into Crusaders so go for Heroes first.
