Cool beans.
They probably don't want to pay for servers. The multiplayer code is there and we could even make do with just LAN. We have multiple means of emulating LAN connections over the internet, including Steam's own Remote Play feature.
Either way, I think it's disgusting that remasters and remakes are cutting features and game modes.
Could also just use a virtual network as well for LAN
The Steam Client has a remote play feature that people can use to play LAN games over the internet with each other. I'm not sure if it supports all games, but it doesn't really matter considering that we can emulate LAN via other means.
KUF 2 should have been just cut off long ago when it was supposed to come out on the PS3 given how it ended up lol.
