Directional buttons not working on controllers

When I try using my Pro Switch controller or my wired Xbox-360 controller it registers button presses but not for arrows? In all the minigames none of the ones that require the arrows work with the controller. Is there a way to fix this?

I can move around the map with the joystick, but neither the joysticks or arrow pads/directional buttons have any input in the minigames, making them impossible to play with a controller, which makes it impossible for me to play local multiplayer with my housemates like I was planning to when I bought the game.

I've been having fun unlocking things solo but this clearly was meant for multiplayer and I have two controllers that work fine with all of my other steam games, if this is a bug that can be fixed or something I can change in the internal files myself that'd solve the problem I'd appreciate some sort of help

Hey Jax - damn sorry to hear this!

Before I dig deep, can I get you to try something: make sure you're connected as Player 1. In the Options menu (far left building on main menu), turn the arrow to the 2nd icon and make sure it's showing 4 mealmate heads. If it's only showing 1, select the option so it shows 4. Now try some minigames.

This is the "who is allowed to navigate menus" option. Not sure if it was a good idea... but basically if it's showing 1 mealmate head, it means only Player 1 can navigate menus.

I made sure the option was correct and made the controller player one, but the problem is still happening. Something I realized is that in minigames where the player moves around the joystick is registered correctly, but it specifically won't work for minigames with arrow button prompts. (also made sure to test the D-pad and still no response)

Ok interesting. Are you on Win/Mac? Are you able to navigate menus using joystick & d-pad? eg. Pantry menu / Ingredients. I'm working on some updates today so will try to fix this soon.
