Prison Revamp
The first time a "jerk" follower started a fight I let it play out as I didn't know what would happen, the poor follower on the losing end of the fight died.
I put the jerk in jail and immediately got a debuff because I had jailed an innocence follower. Or I should say non-dissenting follower.
There is a quest where a follower asks you to jail someone for stealing, you do, they thank you, then you release the thief right away.
The prison mechanic just feels under cooked.

Add a guilty/innocence status to all followers. Then whenever anyone commits a crime (steals/starts fight/add new crimes here) they get a guilty mark and you jail them. Instead of "Reeducating" them "reform" them instead. Basically the same thing but other factors should play into how fast a follower is reformed/re-educated.

-Prisoners should need to eat
Tier one prison: The lamb has to pick up a bowl of food, walk over to the prisoner and feed them.
Tier two prison: You assign a follower to the job of Jailer, they feed prisoners for you.
Tier three prison: The Jailer will talk to the prisoners and slowly reform/re-educate them (but at a slower pace that the Lamb.)
(Assign what meals can be fed to prisoners at the prison).

Meal type should increase or decrease the speed that followers are reformed/re-educated.
Feed them slop and it slows down the process and the stay in prison for longer.
Feed them quality meals it speeds up the reform/reeducate process so they are in prison for a shorter time.
Feed them poop and it'll piss them off & be really funny. *Evil Lamb Noises*

-Prisoners should poop
Everyone poops right?
They poop once the mess appears near to them. They poop a second time (if you haven't cleaned up the first one) then have them stand in a small mound of it under the jail building. Then they get a debuff that slows the reform/reeducate process. Read their mind and it'll say: "I'm wallowing in my own filth, this is humiliating!"

TLDR: Jail system seems lacking: expand it please :D

Elder Care
If you have the "respect for elders" trait it should unlock a building for your elders. A mini duck pond for them to sit at and feed the ducks. A table and chairs for them to play dominoes or Knuckle-bones with each other. A library when they can read all day. Something that has a community centre type of vibe.
Right now being an elder in the cult means shuffling around aimlessly eating/pooping & waiting to die, it's kind of a downer.

TLDR: Elders get nothing; give them something.

Child Existence
The hatchlings are cute, it's just a shame that they don't exist.
Meaning the Lamb is the only one in the cult that interacts with them or in any way acknowledges their existence. When a follower dies everyone runs over, when a follower is born no-one cares? You'd think their parents would at least come over and say hello to their own flesh and blood.

I'd suggest:
-Kids should cry/scream and need to be looked after, and also wake people up at night. (being woke up like this makes the followers are tired the next day and annoyed.)
-Make a Nursery building and assign someone to it to look after the children. (That someone should come to look shattered, like when a follower wears a moon necklace. )
-Have child only traits like:
--Farm Menace: You get a message like when followers are fighting except it's a child tearing up your crops unless you stop them.
--Crybaby: They cry more often that other kids.
--Filthy Child: They Poop more or like to play with/in poop. Make sickness rates go up.
--Bully: They fight other kids. (Until injured, not until death. The injured child won't stop screaming/crying until healed).
--Cute: Give them big anime eyes and have other followers react well to them.
--Cursed Child: Other followers see that there is something off about them. (Like when the lamb goes near a cowardly follower.) When the Cursed child grows up have them try and steal the lambs crown. Or have them be a cannibal & eat corpses without permission and freak everyone out.

I'd like a follower to pick up a baby, pat their head as if to say "you are a little cutey" then put them down and gain a slight faith boost. You know, a nice wholesome moment. I'd also like when a follower picks up a child like this for there to be a 20% chance that the kid will vomit in the adults face because lets face it kids are like that sometimes.
The followers reaction should be to either:
-Get angry & drop the kid (who starts screaming) and walk away in disgust. Maybe instantly start dissenting.
-Carefully put the child down and walk away in wide eyed horror. (Like a war vet that seen stuff). Then break down crying like when you first rescue them. (They'll need to be reassured by the lamb just like cowardly followers.)

TLDR: Kids are great addition to COTL, but they need to do more than just need attention once a day, eat, sleep & poop. Other followers should interact with them.

Revenge on the Executioner
Yes I will never stop banging this drum.

The Executioner.
The guy that chops of your head at the start...
Killed so many innocence other lambs...
Wiped out the lamb race down to the last one...
The guy we NEVER SEE AGAIN?!

I dunno feels like him being a Boss fight and taking his head as a trophy (a new decoration for the base) is a no brainer.

*Long Post is long*
I'm not complaining btw, I love this game.
That's why I want more of it. :TheRedCrown:

IDK how feasible these idea are but childcare & prisons feel under-cooked.
Anyone else have any ideas?

This is actually extremely cool and clever! It would add a new deepness to the game! Especially if you can enable/disable features if you don't want to get too caught up in it.

Hmm, not bad. Maybe some mechanical benefits to the Elder Buildings. The more relaxing buildings increases faith for the Followers seeing it, as they're assured of their future. But Knucklebones should periodically generate funds for the cult, the Lamb's(Praise Be) 'share' of the winnings sort of thing. Make it less a decoration and more an actual benefit to the gameplay, as we have quite a few decorative items already.

For babies and criminals...well I play with the pause on so rarely deal with the latter...and I'll admit, this last playthru made none of the former, just because it only speeds up cultist clutter, which gets to be a problem now that they have an actual level cap.

i would never hatch another egg if i had to deal with children whose sole focus is ruining all harmony and destroying things and stressing out the whole cult. that would be the opposite of fun.

Fair points.

"Child needs" On/Off should be an option in the accessibility menu if anything like the above gets implemented. You can never give the player to many options.
And a passive benefit/boost for the Elder building would be a good idea.

I'd also suggest increasing the cap on how much devotion the Shrine can hold. Late game your followers can completely fill it up within minutes. Feels like the cap for it was set before the two expansions & never increased.

It's been suggested by multiple people that we have a "Lighting Rod" that can drain all devotion from all structures in the base all at once, maybe as a final upgrade for the shrine?

All very interestingly thought out ideas

toggle options are always something i am into but i think my dime in the dst community has proven that most people will not, will NOT, absolutely inarguably will _NOT_ engage with options that change a game from its default settings unless they are forced to do so with no other recourse(like accessibility options) so it feels like this would just be adding a lot of work for almost no pay-off when they could keep moving forward with more wide-sweeping improvements/alterations, you know?

There will be something in a future update to make baby care easier :) Other than that, great suggestions!
