Player 2 using kbm
Is it possible for player two, the one who joins the game to play with kbm and I player 1 plays with controller? We tried switching controls but they only seem to be able to use a controller. (we use remote play together)

You can set player two for keyboard input on the Steam Overlay - Remote Play window. Next to the player icon should be the inputs listed. Player two will have the keyboard and mouse greyed out. You can click on that as the host to enable them to use it as input.

After that ingame you can set the controles for each character in the add co-op player menu.

You can't disable the host keyboard and mouse inputs so you will be able to conrol your character with the controller and you and the second player can simultaniously control the second character (its actually handy if you want to place buildings more perfectly with mouse)

If it doesn't work for some reason try to start Steam as an administrator. That seems to solve a lot of issues with Remote Play

If both players are using a keyboard, Steam seems to recognise it as the same keyboard - which is an issue universal across Steam Remote Play. However there are multiple third party workarounds that you can try one by one until you find which works -> https://steamcommunity.com/groups/homestream/discussions/0/1660069015241352820/

But this post is talking about two people using kbm. I player 1 use a controller and player two wants to use the kbm. But his kbm is not usable during the game and can't select anything.

Yes, player 1 can use controller while player 2 uses keyboard.
You need to enable a setting that lets the second player use your keyboard for input.
