Can Have Two Opposing Doctrines?

I've selected Marriage instead of Ritual Fight Pit, but I really really REALLY want two of my 8 husbands to fight each other to the death to decide who is First Husband.
Is this possible, perhaps later in the game? Can I pick up Doctrines I've left behind?

Yes without spoiling anything major. Later in the game you will have chance to obtain Forgotten Commendment Stones that will let you select Doctrines you previously didn't pick.

So you can essentially unlock every Doctrine in one playthrough.
