Does this really "need" a controller?

I see (now) that the store page does say a controller is recommended, but if I'd known that meant it would bug me with a popup about it before even opening the game, that I have to accept to open the game, I would not have bought the game in the first place.

Dido, I don't use controllers for PC games. <Mostly due to not having a current gen gaming console>

Haha that's one reason for it XD Meanwhile I prefer keyboard and/or mouse for PC games because it's what I've been using for 25+ years. Hard to beat that level of muscle memory.
(Also, not to be that guy, but, it's "ditto", like the pokemon. English is a terrible language to try to guess spelling for if you're not already familiar with how a word looks written down.)

Completely up to you! It's recommended, but personally I use keyb+mouse :)

I tried the game once, and I found the keyboard/mouse to be too inconvenient. There's too much stuff and action on the screen, i often found myself misclicking and losing lives because i wasn't able to tell the position of the cursor. Very frustrating.
