Genders
Before I start no, this is not a troll or a political take. I am wondering why didn't the devs add in a male or female option for you and your cult members. The possibilities are endless for the population Sim of the game it will allow you to have generations of followers with mix variety of looks and traits.

With your lamb being male or female you could also include a system where your offspring can be " the holy" one and can live longer and can follow you in combat and use abilities similar to you. This can also be a way to introduce multiplayer player co-op.
I'm trying to get this post some attention so that the devs can improve this beast of game.

The lamb's gender is androgynous enough that it could be girl or boy based on your opinion. No idea on the cult members, though. Almost all of them give me very male vibes. Given that the lamb, personally, strikes me as a girl...

Sure is reverse harem anime in my cult game.

I believe if you read the mind of your Spouse they will specifically say "he" but that can also be more of a gender neutral term as well given that everyone on the internet uses it as well.

Nothing wrong with that but I'm just saying not having a birth/gender system locks alot of features out of a already great game. The whole point of this thread is to get the devs attention to add in these features. As you see five year Olds who live on Twitter already gave the post a clown award and 9/10 probably didn't even read it lol.

I just don't think it's all that important in this game in the long run.

Like, what purpose is there for gender in the game is my question. I can get physical customization (I've seen people have their games full of one species for instance which is fitting given the game lol), but I don't think adding genders will do much to change the game, or mean anything.
Like, my question is what exactly does not having a gender/birth system lock out? You never explained that in the other reply to someone.

Honestly, just how much this game is post-gender is one of my favorite things about it. Like you can't even say the Lamb is male for certain because there are species of sheep where female sheep still have small horns. They're whatever ewe want.

The only times I've noticed the game uses gendered terms (so far) are few special cases of when characters other than Lamb are referred as "He" and "Brother".

The Bosses have genders in lore, there's both he's and she's among them or am I imagining it?

And no, I don't see this as a problem. At all.
It's almost refreshing when there's no definitive answer to it.

And when even.. *cough* "certain art circles".. are beautifully evenly sided on this, you know the game has made good job on the neutrality aspect.

I think we all know "the answer" is in their first sentence. Unfortunately.

Because it's 2022 and they would be cancelled by reeeing twitter clowns if they misgendered or allowed you to sacrifice a female. Eggshells doesn't even begin to describe the environment games have to walk these days.

why sexualise cute cartoonish animals? gender ain't necesary in this game even less when theres a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ marriage doctrine.

Furries really ruined everything

Why walks on eggshells when you can just skip it? pretty much the reason why the lamb and the followers are "whatever you want they are"

I'm happy there's no genders. I don't care about the political side in the slightest, but from a gameplay perspective it's superfluous. If you want a Follower to be a female, just give them a feminine name. No reason for the game to decide for you. Breeding isn't at the top of my list of features to add anyway.

The bosses do seem to have genders. The NPCs specifically refer to them as he/she.

My guess would be time and budget limitations above everything else. Offsprings, relation quirks etc could be an avenue to explore but it is Large undertaking to make good use of. On small scale there is fishing rat that mourns about unknown Her who took his heart.

Everyone in the game the genderless and it's up to the player to decide who is male and female, or whatever. You're the one inferring they're male. The voices are all made to be taken as either or. It'd be a nightmare and pointless to give them a set-in-stone gender, and honestly has no place in the game, just like off-spring has no point in the game.

Because I am politically left-leaning, I like to imagine an obsession with gender (and the resulting control it gives over people) is a feature of the Old Faith. Thus why the Bishops have strict genders but your followers are more ambiguous in nature. Even though they do still call each other by gendered titles.

Like someone said, you sorta deserve the right to mentally decide for yourself. Just give a follower a gendered name, done. I mean it's not like the game is gonna let you check under their robes for yourself. And yeah I'd agree this game did a great job of creating a neutrality most people can agree with regardless of their political opinions. (Though I personally am just as happy with males and females being treated the same as both potential victims of violence and sacrifice. That's equality, baby!)

But yeah this among other choices make this game's aesthetic really cool.

Actually they do have genders, they just are not stated very often. I have seen cult refer to other members as brother, sister, he, and her.
