Do dissenters even really matter?
Before my double save wipe, I got two dissenters. They did absolutely nothing. Just throw them in the prison for three days, talk to them, and suddenly they're fine. There's like zero threat to them at all.

I didn't think so either, although I would just immediately ascend them whenever they showed up.

I mean Dissenters can be somewhat Problematic in and of itself but yhea if you have a Prison that just basicaly disables them
Though they are still worse then for example illnes (that can be cured faster with less player input and has a easyer instant cure)

Turns out the problem isn't a problem if it's handled properly and quickly.

I've yet to even get a dissenter

if you can throw them into prison or kill them at all, then no, not really.
cult management in this game is a lot more of a chore than a challenge

There should be way more dissenters to make them even a tiny threat but even then you could throw them all to jail.

I just kill em tbh

Right, don't have to worry about losing members of your flock to dissenters if you deal with dissenters the second they pop up, of course if you're getting dissenters chances are the player is ignoring their flock for too long.
Edit: and before anyone comes at me with the follower requests that cause your flock to grow, those are random its not always going to be dissenters that they request to recruit.

Not really. Hell, it's been over 40 days in my game and I haven't even had a single dissenter. Not even during the times where my faith dropped so low it basically wasn't even there. And it seems that as long as you throw them in jail for a few days they'll be fine, so I guess it's not a big deal.

Without jail they will slowly dissatisfy other cultists as they move around the totem pole. One you get enough wood for a jail then you are good.

You are annoyed by leading a cult?

Here is some easy way out:

1: getting enough cult members to unlock all 4 stages.
1.b.: develope the demon circle to stage 3 so you can demonize
2: kill all of them
3: recruit 3 new members
4: reroll (by killing them or offering them) cult members till you got 3 demonifications which are halfway acceptable, also pay attention that not a single cult member has some negative multiplicator for experience points

You can now devote all your love to those 3 cult members, should any of them die of one or another case you can resurect them, which makes them stick with their old level, they become young again (though it still counts age normally, so you can have some 200+ old members) and so on.

You gain some really great buffs during exploration (as high level demons are quite decent), you barely lack resources for anything at all, you also rarely have to feed any of your members and you can explore levels for however long you want.

And don't worry about leveling your stuff, you don't need anyone to pray if you pick up a zealous weapon and you should be nearly maxed in your church when you get to a point where you don't want more followers.

If I was able to make someone be an cook... I would not mind cult management. But it's just not rewarding and just annoying on higher difficulty. Nothing I enjoy.

I'd like to see this increased tbh, I've only noticed it become an issue when multiple followers are dissenting, it takes a bit of laziness on the players part to even get that far though.

Yes they're a problem if you don't have the means to deal with them quickly. My first run in the game I got a dissenter without the second tier unlock (Listen, trial and error, it was my first few runs >.>) and reeducating them does jack all without a prison, as without it they can still run around and do their thing. The prison is the only way to keep followers safe from their ramblings, and disables dissenters from doing just about anything.

A lot of members if not all in my group have zelous perk which blocks dissenter effects.
