Claws are decent, just need to get the third hit of the combo on target.

Take a look at the weapon tier list thread. Every single weapon has been placed as both low tier and high tier. Just because you dislike gauntlets or hammers doesn't mean they're bad.
People need to stop trying to remove things in games just because THEY don't like them.

If anything needs removing its the necromantic or zealous weapons lol
The ghosts deal barely any damage and zealous is useless endgame

Hammers are brilliant. Combine them with the yellow robe (10% damage for every kill) and you'll be one-shotting everything after a few kills so the slow swing speed doesn't even matter.

if geting a weapon causes you to throw the run, then said weapon must be made optional otherwise it's a game breaking design. At least in my opinion, the devs could make a poll to see what weapon to rebalance first

I guess everyone has their preferences on the matter, I'm sincerely surprised hammer or claw would be drawing complaints, when the weapon that consistently make things harder on me is the dagger.

I think a better way to improve the system would be some rule like : "When you pick up a weapon, the next weapon spawn will be for a different type." It would be almost seemless and prevent people staying stuck with a weapon they really hate to play with.

Then again, every weapon is decent in hard (didn't touch very hard yet) and that's hardly a priority, judging by current state of the game.

Gauntlets/Claws are my favorite weapon. Fast, but still good range and damage compared to dagger.

Hammer is overkill most of the time. You can one-shot most enemies with the axe too if you get the yellow robe, but without having such a long wind-up. Also has better range.

Removing the claws isn't the solution here. Maybe adding some "dark magic" extra damage over tile, like the poisonous one. Or add some "at ten kills you recover half hearth" this will make the weapon more viable overall. Maybe more speed or more damage each hit. The idea is great and it can be fixed and tuned so it is a great weapon.
