Bow or refuse?

The game has events where one or more of the main bosses will appear before you, say some lore and then you get the options to "bow" or "refuse"

Does anyone know what impact this choice has?

So far I have only chose refuse and it just gives you a challenge room with a few fights which is fine. If there is any impact beyond that I have no idea.

No, I can promise you the game is not that deep with its narrative to provide any consequences for that. If you bow your followers lose 20 faith, that's it.
