Besides, that's all up to the ppublishers/developpers, and sales are never a mandatory.
Personnaly, over 30 years and more than 2000 games, I never saw one staying at the same price "forever" during its whole market life.
And sometimes sales are even pretty much incoherent : recently Mass Effect Legendary went on sale on Steam... but not on Origin (EA platform, EA publisher of Mass Effect)
