Long runs ruin your cult?
If I leave on a run, even 10 minutes, I'll come back to 10 faith and 1-2 followers about to leave even if I've left food. It just seems like it punishes you for not dying in runs

EDIT: I'm 8 hours in on posting this, I know about doctrines, but it seems stupid I have to wait on doctrine cooldowns for a good run
EDIT 2: Just went fishing, leaving when everything was on full and food left, was gone over 1 night and came back to a dissenter. wtf
UPDATE: I have not changed my play style and do everything the same but the issue seems to have stopped, maybe there was a bug that made faith plummet? I don't know but since I haven't changed how I play and my prep stuff I'm assuming this was some kind of bug or glitch causing really fast faith loss as it no longer happens

Time is a factor in runs. You need to have bonuses to upkeep your faith and hunger.

I don't even know why they give you the option to do consecutive runs in defeated lands, because it's never worth it if you return and there's 1-2 corpses, everyone's hungry, and faith is in the red.

You mean the endless mode after you refight a bishop they warn you to make sure you have a way for the cult to take care of themselves or if you mean just doing a run normal the most ive had is them at half faith never anyone leaving yet

The problem is that you cannot automate basic cult routines to actually loop. At most, you could use the mushroom and fasting rituals to stave off faith, hunger, and poop build up; you'll still have to go back once elderly followers start dying of old age, cause you can't automate corpse disposal, and everyone will start getting sick with corpses rotting in the open.

It isn't much of an issue later in the game when your cult becomes more independent. Do you know why your faith is so low when you return? Depending on what it is, you can take precautionary measures.

Make sure to have faith, hunger and cleanliness bar at full before leaving. Empty the toilets, have a janitor outpost, leave some food out, kill the old followers so they don't die while you're away and can't chop up their corpse. You can also use the mushroom ritual to lock your faith for two days, albeit some cultists will become sick afterwards. But you have some time before they die out of sickness.

Also be mindful of active quests with a time limit before you leave. If they run out you get a massive loss of faith.

Early on you cant realy do long runs or your cult just blows itself up. For whatever reason the dungeon runs feel like endgame when you got all the necessary buildings to keep your cult faithful...

Maybe they could add an early food stock building, old peopel retire home or assign a cult member for taking care of corpses. Like assigning an enforcer for the faith we already have now.

You can enact doctrines later in the game that makes your follower have unlimited faith/no hunger for several days at a time. These consecutive runs are not meant for early game. Perform your runs quickly, time is a factor for a reason - it is part of the resource management in the game.

I always have everything full, leave atleast 12 food and have outhouses, have no old followers and no time quests active. Go on a 8-10 min run (I explore every room in each stage to get the most ♥♥♥♥) and then come back to 5-10 faith and people about to leave. It just seems ridiculous and like they just dont want you to go on runs, which is meant to be a big part of the game but feels more like 15-20% of it

I'm literally 8 hours into my save and can't go on runs longer than like 6 mins most of the time because of doctrines needing to cooldown, despite leaving everything on full and 12 food with no elderly followers and still come back to my cult all ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up

Hmm, so what lowers your faith in the first place? There should be pop-ups on the left side to show what made you lose faith. It's hard to keep track of all of them, but if you lose 90+ faith a lot of things must have happened.

If you have the outhouse and cleaning facilities then you should never have problems on long runs. Right before you go on your run just make sure everyone is at full hunger and then make them some extra meals so they can eat later when they are hungry again.

It really doesn't, max for a death is -10 and that's is two blessings.. so pretty much nothing when it comes to faith loss on death. Can spend 3 times that amount on a ritual and still be fine.

Death in of itself is totally negligible outside of losing 50% of your pick-ups but faith wise it's a none issue.

I literally don't know, nothing will pop up to tell me, it just happens
