Permanantly Kill Followers?
I'm on day 900-something in the game, and have a habit of saving every follower I come across (it hurts me to leave them). Because of this, so many of my followers have passed from old age/been sacraficed/etc - so many, in fact, then when I get the quest to revive followers, my game has genuinely crashed trying to load all of my previously deceased followers. It also makes it incredibly difficult to scroll through and find what specific follower needs to be revived.

Is there a way to permanently kill followers/guarantee they won't be revive-able after death? That way I can slowly go through and revive a chunk of my current dead followers just to end them in a specific way that'll scoot them off the super long list?

The followers you feed to the Red Fox are permanently gone
And to open the Gates for the realms of the Bishops after beating the game to save them requires Follower sacrifice too, up to a level 10 one to open Silk Cradel again - they are gone too forever

Ive already beaten the game, so I'm no longer able to sacrifice followers in either of these ways :(

I'm assuming they'd be in graves, have you tried exhuming and turning their bodies into compost?

Even composted, eaten alive by a cannibalistic rite, death in fighting pit or ascedned followers are not beyond the power of The God of Death

Basically no way to "delete/remove" them from your dead follower list

Except for the mentioned gates and Fox options, however Midas is another option but these options are LIMITED so because OP's own "must save all" rule set, they've put themselves in a position where the game's basically unplayable in that regard now.

This is why I've posted a few times about how we need a way to USE the Disciples beyond what's in the compound. Beforehand, the infinite levels meant, well, you WANTED as many as possible, since they were constantly going up. Now? They have an end point, so giving them either a final rest, or sending them to lands beyond the Old Faith(Which we know exist now thanks to the comic), or even just using them, giving them release as they become part of our power in the same way the Bishops used their followers, would be something to end their stories on.

i agree with this! i really loved leveling up my immortal followers to absurd degrees, but even then i didnt really use them for anything. i just liked seeing the number go up! but i think that a perma-death might be a good concept especially for people who play for more than the story (and want to keep going after they beat it). i think using the disciples specifically is a wonderful concept - maybe introducing a ritual that only works on disciples where you sacrifice them in exchange for something cool? like maybe sin but maybe other future stuff? but in doing this you can never resurrect them.

or even outside of followers, maybe itd be cool to put a limit on the sin thing? because after theyve left your cult once and you get them back, you kill them the second time they leave. but you can still resurrect them? i think maybe not being able to resurrect them after that second go around would be a fitting punishment (and a good way to clear out the resurrect-able followers list)

but im also not a game developer, and im just one player amongst many, so i understand that these are probably super difficult to execute and apply, and that some people might be upset at the fact that you can permanently kill followers? who knows

Im not nearly at that point yet, but it is a concern I've had for my save as well. A way to permanently remove a follower from the dead list would go a long way towards making sure you don't accidentally end up in that kind of situation.

Of course, it would have to be done in a way where WE choose who gets taken off the list. If the game just automatically did it, that wouldn't be great, cause then you'd have to issue of a follower you wanted to keep around getting knocked off the list if they, hypothetically, died around the same time as a ton of other followers.
