"Add Co-Op Player"
The host pc have to have a controller connected for the game to allow the summoning of the Goat. If you don't have physical controllers you could use try out Controller Emulator app.
Me and a friend have been playing with the emulator thru remoteplay (different cities) because neither of us have physical controllers. google "x360ce" its an XBOX 360 controller emulator (cant post link for it here)
You can set the emulator to any keybindings on your keyboard or mouse clicks and it works perfectly. The site has a short but full tutorial on how to set it up
If you host the game its enough if the controller app just runs in the background and you can keep using the default keayboard settings. But your friend connecting have to set it up properly so each of the controller buttons are set to something on her keyboard inside the app.
Once its set up and the emulators are running you can start the game , load your save / start a new game and share the game thru Steam remote play.
If your friend connected in Remote play you can then summon the second player in the main menu "Add co-op player".
If you guys set up everything by these steps then your friend will be able to set the controller to the second character as input by themselves without your input and play without issues.
( if steam can't recognize the controller input, fully quit steam on both pc-s then start both the emulator and steam in administrator mode on each pc it should work then )
Hope this helps ! Have fun ^_^
