Do I really need a controller?

I use steam on my PC to play games with a KB/Mouse. I'm not a fan of controllers, and if I wanted to play a game with one I'd boot up my wife's consoles.

I was a bit bummed to see that pop-up when I started the game saying its much better with a controller and didn't proceed much further...

Is a kb/mouse usable in this game effectively, or should it really be played with a controller?

I had the same popup with Rivals of Aether. You should be able to just click ok and then proceed like normal. Rivals is also better to play with a controller, but i'm a keyboard player and worked just fine

I had no issue playing with keyboard, I'd suggest you try it

Controller is recommended, but not required. I've done my entire playthrough on only keyboard just fine.

Not like the suggestion seems to matter because OP after responding to ONE comment out of the four responding to their post, no longer owns the game so to be quite honest this thread no longer as a reason to still be commented on, OP had their question answered by a single comment that from the likelihood gave OP the only "real" answer they were looking for and likely won't touch the game ever again.

For real. The question was if it was required, and only acknowledged a single comment saying it's a better experience. That popup only comes on for games where the experience is more enjoyable for the average person with a controller but by all means isn't saying it's required. That's why I mentioned Rivals in my reply since that's one that even my cousin who introduced me to the games thought I was crazy for wanting to use keyboard. Unless it says controller required you're all good to use keyboard imo. I just bought the game relatively recently and was going to play with keyboard myself.
