What is the best way to grind for Ancient Tablets/the secret lore rooms?

I don't seem to be finding many when I try, and I haven't really heard about a solid method... if it exists. Thought I would check in here before I sink who knows how much time into going into Darkwood again and again.

So far I know that:
- you need to hit a special statue that spawns instead of a breakable object to open it
- it always is the room up from where you discover it
- it cannot overlay an existing spot on the map [as in rooms that have a discovered room above are guaranteed to not have a passage]
- they don't exist in purgatory

I've been going through Darkwood, breaking everything in viable rooms, without much luck.
Point is I'm not sure if I'm doing it wrong or if I'm just unlucky.

As far as your knowledge goes, you're correct on all of those things. The only things I will add are
- You can only get one per crusade
- They can spawn in any area, Darkwood, Anura, Anchordeep, Silk Cradle.

It IS a slow process, so don't worry. The best possible way to speed it up is to get the map tarot card, as it will reveal the room, notably you won't see a pathway in another room leading to it, implying you have to reveal the entrance. If you can, also leave a bunch of food for your followers (or use the fast ritual) and try to continuously crusade, in other words, reach the end of the crusade, and head through the green door (you can do this twice before it sends you back to your cult). This will likely be your best bet, as in my experience, this is what worked for me.
