Ahhh alrighty- is there likely to be an option to play with the survival aspects alone in the future?
Also, in Ratau's introduction to penitence mode, it sort of sounded like only hunger and sleep related deaths would kill you for good? Are combat based deaths exempt? Because that seems more approachable.
However, CotL could use a custom game mode option and allow you to pick and choose certain mechanics. I could see that being a future thing later when they are wrapping up with it..
I hear ya though. I'm pretty good, but definitely not that confident. I'll probably mess with it in a off-chance way of just goofing around, but not taking it seriously to full game.
It just seems odd to chain mechanics from one concept to another concept simply for the cause of a tribute.
Oh- dying on a crusade DOESN'T permanently kill you? Interesting, I might give it a closer look then. Does seem a bit annoying you can't get all of the heretic abilities, yeah. Though I suppose the eating one would be redundant, and was another a time skip one? I guess that's a bit like sleeping?
The way the system in Penitence mode works is that when a gauge runs low, first, the lamb will move much more slowly, except when rolling, and not less slowly during a crusade (And have a sad expression), then when the gauge is empty, a ring timer will appear with three icons. When the timer hits zero, one icon is crossed out and the timer resets, so you have three chances to eat or sleep. Not only that, but it pauses during boss battles, and resets when you escape to your cult (or beat a boss, I think?) Only after all three icons are crossed out do you ACTUALLY lose your save file, which takes a surprisingly long time.

I can see how the eating would conflict, and you already start with Omnipresence by default, but the lack of Resurrection is particularly annoying, and Darkness Within is still useful.
