Controller Not Recognized

I am not able to get my controller to be recognized by the game. Using a stock Xbox One controller. No issues going back to test the last 3 games I played. Tried the Xbox extended feature support driver and it worked for a single session and never worked again, so it working that once may have been a coincidence. Tried turning my controller off and on while already in the game.

No luck with xbox one controller here, either. With or without steam input, with or without XBOX accessories app. Windows, Steam, and other games recognize the controller, but CotL won't.

I just got this controller a month ago with the assumption that if a game supports controllers it is going to support the most popular PC controller on the market. I certainly doubt its due to the controller.

Wired or wireless? All 167 hours of my playtime has been with a wired Xbox One controller.

I have found that for some reason this issue is exclusively happening when I launch the game via the executable. It is not happening when I launch it through steam. I have avoided the problem by just launching it via steam but I would not call that a fix necessarily.

When you say launching via the executable, do you mean the desktop shortcut or the .exe in the game's folder?

I guess regardless you should submit a bug report in the game if you haven't already. The devs might be able to identify the issue.

I have had the same problems, I have 8bitDO controller, and FINALLY I get it working.

What works for me is:
1. In game properties, disable Steam Input
2. Start the game
3. ALT + TAB and go to Steam, and in game properties, now ENABLE Steam Input
4. ALT + TAB and focus to the game, and now my controller works.

Great! It works for me, with my xbox wireless controller.
