safer way to earn sin?
hi everyone.

im asking this question since i already lost 1 of my best follower because of the "damned"-mechanic (shortly after the first i lost a second one, until now i was only able to fight the second follower => i assume, the frst one is lost??).

thats why i was wondering if there is a way to earn sin without risking to damn your followers? maybe i missed something but so far the only way to get sin is to intentionelly inflict followers with it which lead to them being damned.

thank you for your answers

Are you absolving them JUST as they fill up with sin? I've yet to have a damned follower because the second one is filled up with sin I immediately absolve them even before my bar building broke, I had a time where six followers all fill with sin and I absolved them of their sin without much of an issue.

yes, either the game automaticly do it on its own or i do it immedietly after an action (e.g. confession booth).
do you know if im able to "rescue" my first follower? or is he forever lost?

You can do cannibal ritual (it wont raise followers sin) or get upgrade that rewards sin for beating bosses. Also getting an egg upgrade will give you back sin you've spent.

So far it looks like the chance for followers to go damned is completely random. I have on of mine being my scapegoat and giving me about 20-23 sins without any issue, but then another one went danmed after his first full sin extraction, and not just that, pretty much a day after I returned him to the cult, he went damned *again*, this time after his second drink at the bar. Looks like the game doesn't keep any notes and just flips a coin every time one of yours gets full sin.
My recomendation - use drinkhouse and confession booth to rise sin levels in your normal flock just shy of a full bar, then indoctrinate some fodder and use Sinner's Pride on them (ritual that takes sin from everyone in the cult and dumps it on one scapegoat's head). You'll get many sins in one go, while only losing the fodder follower you didn't care about in the first place.

Just something of a disclaimer if OP goes this route, be prepared to deal with some faith loss as the ritual Wakazu's suggesting while advertising reduces your faith by 40 and isn't affected by the Cannibal trait, I've noticed it only deal a faith reduction of 25 with the Cannibal trait.

Cursed Hawkins, please read again. What you describe is Gluttony of Cannibals - the ritual where one of your followers gets eaten and which I would NEVER suggest to use, like, at all, since there is literally 0 benefit from it (I mean, if you don't like the guy, just Ascend them - same outcome with a lot more for it).
The ritual I suggested is Sinner's Pride, which takes the sin of your entire flock and piles it up on one selected follower (who usually flies off the handle afterwards, hence the need to use fodder)
