Spider Skull?

So I just randomly hit a critter at night after I was done bringing in the harvest and it dropped a humanlike skull. I carried it around thinking it is a spooky easter egg and it's considered a corpse but I couldn't put it in the crypt. Shortly after dropping the skull, my game closed. Was that an intentional closing?
