Change the necklace

I'm sorry if I'm asking a stupid question. But how to change a follower's necklace? they refuse to take off their necklace, and I gave them the wrong one. I really don't want to replay the game because of this :(

You mean Aym and Baal? You just need a follower who doesn't have one for the ritual.

The fella I gave the necklace to turned elderly before I could sacrifice them. The cat (I already forgot which one) was then stuck as an elder and couldn't be turned into a demon.

So pretty much if you don't want to waste necklaces, cannibal is mandatory, ascension and sacrifice are out of the question
