The wiki says

"During a random encounter , the Lamb will find Midas scavenging through the corpse of a desiccated follower and distracts them. He immediately rams towards the Lamb, taking away 60% of their current Coin available before vanishing.

This pattern will continue with every future encounter up until the third encounter in the Silk Cradle, where Midas will continue to stay where he is even after stealing the Lamb's coins. This leaves him wide open for the Lamb to attack him and steal back their gold. Doing so will net the player the "Shake Down" achievement." Buuuut i don't remember finding him like -ever and i just spent 3 hours on the Crusades over and over again and never had this "random encounter". sad

I met one time when I first into the darkwoods after the crusade, but never see him again.

after te second encounter he never shows up for me anymore

I saw him on my first crusade, and after 9 more hours of playing I haven't seen him a second time. I've done at least 10 runs in each area

Just a theory... but if wiki says
"the Lamb will find Midas scavenging through the corpse of a desiccated follower"
Maybe you need to send one of the followers on a quest with low chance of success, wait till they die and then Midas would appear looting their corpse? Has anyone tried that?

Edit : While 3 of 1lvl followers on ~60% mission and one on 30% - didnt work, twice.
While they are standing in missionary - didnt work, twice
after one of them died on me - didnt work, tried every location.

So it is either not connected or i am just extremely unlucky
