Stop spider from stealing my cult members?

I genuinely don't understand. It seems like every single time I leave the flock, one of them is hanging-ten in a web hammock. How do I stop him?

That's just a fresh cultist member to buy. It's a completely new NPC

What Infern said. The spider sells you new cultists if you need them. Some times it gives you cultists for free.
I know it mentions that he could steal them from you if he finds them.
But that is just flavor text.

Plus any Cultists that leave and get caught by him, they most likely were just deserters anyway meaning they wouldn't be missed all that much.
