Different hearts?
What are the different kinds of hearts and what do they mean? Like how are blue hearts different from normal ones?

Also it looks like all the different fleeces kinda suck

So red hearts are normal hearts and able to be healed if you find health or say vamp, Blue hearts are temp hearts and once gone, are gone, Black/Cursed hearts are temp hearts like Blue but when you take dmg to these hearts it causes dmg to the enemy that hit you.

Red hearts are your normal health. There's a chance when breaking things and when opening chests to get half of a heart or a full heart to heal yourself. Vampiric weapons can also heal you when slaying an enemy.

Blue hearts are temporary. It's just extra health that can't be healed.

Diseased hearts function the same as blue hearts, but also damage all enemies on screen when you are damaged.

The fleeces are a bit hit or miss, with the notable exception of the Golden Fleece. Double damage taken seems rough, but the damage bonus it can potentially give is honestly overpowered. If you play smart and avoid taking damage long enough, the bonus can get so high that you 1-shot almost everything in the game. If enemies die in an instant, it becomes much easier to survive that double damage debuff.

Red Hearts - thats your health, depending on difficulty and various in game mechanics it can get bigger or smaller, but it always resets to full once you exit a dungeon run.

Blue hearts - Thats like extra health, you can get those in runs and eating something in your base, but once you exit a dungeon they are gone.

Diseased hearts - Once enemies dmg you so that one pops, enemies in the room take dmg.

Well they give different types of bonuses to your gameplay depending how you wanna play. If you think that not one is for you you can stick with the starter one.

Kinda mind blowing that a dev is responding lol. Ok can you explain what playstyles they complement? I can't remember what they each do but a bunch of them are confusing as to what styles they promote.

  • Golden Fleece: Stacks 10% more damage per kill. Loses stacks when damaged. Double damage taken. Cautious combat leads to incredible power.
  • Fleece of the Glass Cannon: Double curse damage and half fervor cost. Half melee damage dealt and half health. Curse-focused gameplay.
  • Fleece of the Diseased Heart: picking up a tarot card gives you 1 diseased heart (max of one earned this way at any time). However, lose everything if you die. Allows a gradual amount of mistakes as you keep getting a "2-hit shield" with every tarot pickup.
  • Fleece of the Fates: Gain 4 random tarot at the start of a run, but can't pick up more during the run. Allows for a strong start, but removes choice and potential growth for longer runs.
  • Fleece of Fragile Fortitude: Turn all hearts blue and increase them by 50%. This results in more health, but you can't heal.

There is a potential random event that removes all special hearts (non-red hearts). I've heard if you use this fleece and encounter that event, you just die and lose the run.

If you do have more info on that please drop it in the tech support form, if not you have a google form on our discord server for console issues.

Unfortunately, I don't. It was just a post in one of the threads I've seen in the past few days. I suppose I could try some runs and hope for such a situation to occur, but the nature of RNG could make that a fool's errand.

I think its better to consider the Blue hearts as armor since they allow for you to take a hit WITHOUT compromising your actual health while the Diseased hearts are more of a reflect of sorts where the damage that was used to hit you is returned to not only your attacker but also everyone else in the room.
