Gaining blue hearts over time?

One thing I've noticed that I don't think was ever explained, after spending a few days in my cult, (just making sure everything is taken care of before my next run) I've sometimes accumulated one, two, even three blue hearts? I know the eating perk exists, but it only gives one heart, and you can't do it again until after your next run. So... Is this even intentional? Did I miss some little note that alluded to it?

It would be nice, if it IS intentional, if I could figure out exactly how to get all the extra hearts. They've carried over into the dungeons IIRC, which was... helpful, to say the least. But it would also trivialise the demon that starts you with extra hearts.

Check your Tarot Cards, one of them should say that each kill there's a 10% chance of getting armor.

I mean I'm getting them OUTSIDE the dungeons, in my cult, where I'm just watering crops and not really killing anything. For clarity's sake, I'm not getting them after sacrifices or murdering followers either.

Sermons give blue hearts but I do think it's a perk earned because I started a new game and sermons aren't giving me a blue heart yet. I guess I wasn't paying enough attention my first run to know what caused it.

Hmm... Honestly, that could be it. Maybe it's a hidden perk for maxing out the sermon points? I'll keep a closer eye on it, but that's one hell of a bonus to not mention to the player.

Yeah i noticed i was accumulating blue hears too
if it's true that you get them from sermons then thats pretty cool
is there a limit on how many hears you can get before actually going on a crusade?

Sermons dont give hearts i think. Heart of heretic perk Hunger gives 1 heart for eating food once a day. Instead Its buggy and gives 1 blue heart when eating meal once and 1 extra on day long CD without eating another meal. Sometimes it just starts accumulating hearts without eating first meal.

Sermons do seem to give hearts but I have no idea what causes it.

Yep testing it right now and now they give... Might be in patch notes and i missed it.

Semons give blue hearts when you max doctrines. It's been in the game since launch so you won't find it in patch notes

I've returned with my scientific findings and apparently, yes, when you have max sermons. As soon as i got the last combat perk and held another sermon, i had an extra blue heart. If memory serves, it goes to a maximum of four. (Including the Hunger heretic perk.)
