ok so when I get a new follower in my cult some of them get ether long robes or short shirts is that a way to identify there gender?

Long robes are for those that are old. There are no defined genders in the game.

From what I've seen, if you indocrinate someone and send them immediately to worship, they get the long robe (most of the time anyway and only if there is enough space). If you send them to do any other job (chop wood, tend farm, etc) they keep the ragged shirt. Also, when you send someone who's been doing any of the other jobs I mentioned above to worship, they won't change their outfit immediately. Reloading the area usually changes this.

As a side note, if you indocrinate someone and give them a specific job like tending farms, they will prioritize this job over others as long as there is work to be done. So be careful not to stack everyone on the same job, as then only those who can't do said job will switch to others and that only temporarily.

I did not know this was a thing.

As I enjoy the cloak and dagger occult aesthetic, I'll be assigning everyone worship from here on out it seems.

oh so i guess you just have to make a guess as to what the followers gender is by the pitch in there voice. also thx for that info i was just putting any new members just to worship and they did nothing

There is no gender afaik. The devs kinda dodged that topic entirely. Any followers regardless of voice pitch and looks can become lovers and the lamb doesn't have a specific gender to start with (the devs specifically mentioned that one some time ago).
