Confessional Symbols
Hey folks,

So me and my friends are debating whether or not the symbols that appear during confessions actually mean something or not. So for example when a follower had a heart appear above their head / their side of the booth, it meant they were in love with another follower.

Is this true or not, and if so is there a guide anywhere that explains with the other symbols mean?

Thank you in advance! :)

As far as I'm aware they don't matter at all especially since there's some dissenter symbols that can appear during them.

I think this is just a thing that more or less comes from The Sims, giving *some* context of chatter that isn't actually relevant to the player. They don't appear to be devoid of meaning, though only symbolic (incidentally being symbols themselves). I'm guessing they have some relevance to the ideals of the cult, like if one chooses to have the Wedding ritual.

OTOH, it could be pure visual gibberish like the meaningless sounds they speak.

I only played one run through, though, so can't really say for sure. It is a cult game, maybe they creeped in something with hidden meaning somewhere... like this...

I really don't think that's the case because you can get symbols of the other bishops, dissenter symbols, etc, they just seem meant to be something that your not meant to think too heavily into.

Agreed. The lighthearted approach doesn't match the tone of hidden messages.
